SoCal, but hey, both are accessible using the 5 frwy right? But really I do think they'll release a second round of Allocations, they've done it with every RS before, even going back as far as the '73 Carrera RS. Only 500 of those were originally built for homologation purposes and they ended up with over 1,500 of them. Which is why only the first 500 were lightweights with the thinner gauge body panels. Only exception is the 4.0, but that was a limited by numbers car so I don't really include it with the other RS's with their (then) indefinite production numbers. So hopefully, Green Lantern will get one, which I think he will. He just might have to wait longer, which could end up being a blessing in disguise and result in a PTS car. Good things come to those who wait, so the saying goes

The allocations will come eventually, perhaps in the form of 991.2.
I think they'll open up a 2nd round of allocations. I wonder how many have been spoken for already. I have a feeling they limited the first round of allocations to about 1200 world wide, to keep people on the outside looking in. Also to limit costs should problems arise like what happened with the GT3 (which I doubt very much, considering how much testing the RS's have gone through). Then they will release another 800 or so, once the first batch of cars have been delivered and have some miles on them.

Eduardo - please can you advise:

Is this lime green and if so, is it still a colour on PTS? With the older 911's colours such as this, has the paint supplier changed and if so, is the modern version of lime green a different mix and therefore shade? Case in point being my 997.2 RS in PTS which is referred to as Green and a different colour to the 997.1RS Green.

Thank you in advance.

The 'Lime Green' MY1974 911 2.7 Carrera is Nigel Watkin's car. It is a full restoration (including fresh paint) since the vehicle, when found, was sporting a 'metallic black' re-paint. So who knows if they copied 100% correctly it's original factory color. But from the photos (which can be always deceiving), it looks like the correct hue.

http://www.ferdinandmagazine.com/cit...world-magazine

'Lime Green / Gelbgrün', color code 137, was a standard factory color in MY1974 & MY1975. It's a fantastic & beautiful non-metallic hue! Yes, paint suppliers change with the times. Glasurit is no longer the factory's paint vendor. Dupont was the supplier during recent years - and the latter is now called Axalta Coating Systems. The paint is no longer solvent based & doesn't have lead. It's all water based now. So different chemistry. And all colors - including solids - get a final clear coat. But regardless, Porsche today offers that color, with the same color code 137, as an approved PTS color. That it has kept its original color code is your best assurance that the modern color is likely damn close to its original 1974/1975 hue!

Re: your .2 997 RS. Why don't you tell us the 'colour code' of your vehicle as found on the inside of your gas lid since that is where for these period 997's color code were marked on the vehicle?

I have asked you to name your color before...with no success. We know PAG did several PTS bright 'green' gt3 RSs in that period 2010/2011, including W25 'Signal Green', 2D8 'Green/RS Green' and 225 'Viper Green'. So just be truthful and tell us the color of your (former) vehicle as you know it?

Hi Eduardo - thank you kindly for the advice.

Re: your request about my car I apologise but I either missed or forgot to respond.

I will ask my friend for a picture but in the meantime - I attach screen shot from the original order:

Well, I don't know that format on your screen shot...was this generated by a dealer or PAG?

Regardless there is a contradiction of terms in it. The paint is a 'solid / uni' and not a metallic. The tell tale sign for the color code is Green 'J5'. That is 'RS Green', Porsche's color code 2D8. So that is what I believe ultimately you will find out was the color of the old .2 997 RS!

No problem. It was related to your post in H82BL8's thread re: his 'Viper Green' gt3. Hope that clears it up.

Eduardo - to answer your queries:

1. Dealer screen shot

2. Looking at this picture of J5 and 2D8 the dates refer to 2006 - 2007 - which is 997.1RS correct? So assuming my .2RS was this code too (and I bet 99% your right) I am still confused - the 997.1 RS green is definitely a darker green than I had on mine. Would this be due to changes in manufacturer?

3. I missed that post - sorry!

I am asking all these questions as i'm trying to decide on PTS 991RS colour.

Sorry to hear that. But, thankfully, it's not too late for you. I could teach you about manners, dental hygiene and how to succeed in America. Then send you right back into the dealership. Maybe you'll will not get as far as us Cubans...but an RS might be doable for even someone of your humble social status!

That's not an over rev. He just hits the limited for a split second.

I am asking all these questions as i'm trying to decide on PTS 991RS colour.
A) Did you ordered this car new? If so, what color did you asked the factory to do your PTS 2010 gt3 RS?

B) If you were not specific as to the exact 'Green' color requested, Porsche could have painted this car in one of several green colors available then as PTS. The 'colour' marked on the gas lid of the .2 997 vehicle should settle that question. When will you be able to have that photo of the interior of the gas lid on your car?

C) I doubt the paint formula for 2D8 'RS Green' was changed from 2007/2008 to 2010. They still called that color 2D8, so even if the chemistry was changed Porsche thought it was the same color that deserved the same color code.

The factory does change their minds on many other colors though. 'RS Orange', for example, was dropped after being allowed to be ordered as a PTS up to MY2010. They didn't replaced it with an exact color. Instead, they offered 'Pastel Orange', color code z17, which was/is a brighter hue.

D) If you like 'Lime Green / Gelbgrün', color code 137, I would pursue it. It's an awesome color...and quite rare. I have not seen yet a photo of a 991 in that color. And it would be stunning on a modern gt3 or RS! The question remains if that color will be chosen as one of the few allowed to be ordered PTS on the 991 gt3 RS!
