Lava does have a definite salmon hue in those pics. Other colors (sky, road signs, cars, etc.) look natural which gives a clue as to color accuracy, I would think.
Being a new color, I'd wish to see it in person before choosing. Based on those photos it wouldn't be a consideration for me. Given what's available, GT Silver would be my choice and it's free.

It looks like what I imagine a GR car would become if parked outside for 20 years and never washed, nor waxed.

I'm not a fan of the lava color either, based only on pictures but also the 918 I saw in person that looked very similar. I think it's my least favorite porsche orange of all time.

One thing is for sure, Lava is definitely the most polarizing color I've ever seen from Porsche. It can look absolutely breathtaking in some pix/video and absolutely terrible in others. The video posted above, it has a really orange look, almost closer to RS Orange and looks amazing, perhaps tricks of the filters used by the professional cameraman. In others it looks very red to burnt orange like what was posted from the show, which is still cool but very different and most likely due to the autoshow lighting. Then in other pix, I totally see the salmon/coral/faded red. It's hard to believe it's all the same color lol
