So, I'm getting anxious for the price in USD and I busted out excel.
I entered in all the values of US 911 prices (in usd) vs Euro 911 prices (in euros) and came up with the variance for every model. The euro 911 is always more in euros than the car is in the US in dollars. I then did a % increase, averaged these values, then plugged it back into the euro price of GT3 RS.
Around $171,000 is what I came up with. Lets see if I'm close.

Agreed. 5 seconds? From what I understand, if they had just used Trofeo R's, it probably would have made up the difference.

And, still, compared to its competitors, it'll be a bargain. One of the many reasons why I'm such a Porsche fanboy.

I view the RS as the GT3 without the civility. The RS will allow the last measure of performance to be squeezed out of the "basic" 991 GT3 package at the expense of livability on the street. The RS isn't supposed to dwarf the standard GT3. Whether or not the RS is a "good value" is another matter entirely and far more subjective.
I expect the RS to be more fun on both road and track, though the ride could be (too) harsh on mediocre or worse roads. Looks great, I like the aggression. On a 1:00 to 2:00 track, it'll probably be a second to two faster than the GT3, which will be noticeable, but not huge.
If cost weren't a factor, I'd readily take the RS over the GT3. Or if I had twice my net worth and/or income, I'd take the RS even considering the extra cost. But as it stands, I'm happy with the GT3, and likewise happy for people who'll be getting an RS.

Typical sequence of events in a nushell on every car forum when a new car is about to launch.
- Pictures and some stats released- Car is ugly, terrible, I'm sooo disappointed, I'm canceling my order. Total failure, porsche missed the mark, like they are so well know for.
All these assumptions made without car even hitting the pavement. People throwing their hands up in disgust, oh the horror!!
- Car actually gets in owners hands and they are blown away. Second coming of christ.
- Car looks sooo much better in person, has to be seen, picts don't do it justice, blablabla
And the fickle crowd is swayed back in favor
- Within the first few months of the car being in owners hands, who actually have REAL world feedback, it will become incredibly hard to find even one negative comment on it, besides from a few stranglers, that are too stubborn to admit how wrong they were.
Can't we just skip the whole drama and wishy washy nature from those who's opinions sways with the wind? We just went through it with the GT3 and look how that turned out. We almost all love it, we atlest those of us with a pulse.
For the record, the GT3 RS, looks stunning, the numbers on paper never tell the whole story and its going to be a monster on the track, exceeding expectations of even the most cynical.

I can't wait. This thing is going to be epic, in person, and in my hands. And I'm really hoping to get it in PTS (just like my impending 981 Cayman GT4).

So I think while the production will not be limitless, they'll make enough so that everyone who wants to buy one will be able to. They built more 997 GT3RS than GT3 after all. And considering the mark up over the GT3 I'm sure they make decent profit on the RS. So why not sell more and make more money. After all, we are not talking about tens of thousands of units. But if someone has $200,000 burning a hole in their pocket I'm sure Porsche will be more than happy to offer a fast cure.

For me, it's pretty much what I expected based on the 997.1 GT3 -> GT3 RS and the 997.2 GT3 -> GT3 RS -> GT3 RS 4.0.
I also much prefer the exterior styling over the 991.1 GT3. But, that's just me, also, as I have the utmost highest respect for the GT3, as well. I do miss the bragging rights of a 9000 rpm redline in the GT3. Piston speed is higher in the 991 GT3 RS, though (higher than the LFA, but below the 918 Spyder).
