Larry, I hate to be redundant, but I don't see how those pics could be recent. Leaves on the trees, green grass and wildflowers on the side of the track? It's still Winter in Germany (well barely Spring); should be bare trees and some snow, I'm thinking.

Good point, I guess we could look at the image metadata to tell when these were taken...

but...

how do you explain the decklid issue?

Not sure on the metadata, but current pics of the 'ring certainly look like that. No snow, etc.

To me this just simply makes more sense. Porsche has always used common bodies for its models GTs, Carrera 4, Turbo etc. There is a reason that they make so much profit from each car. The wing is easy to change and but the body to me is more likely to come from the Turbo. Wider, air intakes and all. Much easier and simpler to use and much more cost effective.

Just guessing, but the whole point of testing would be to try different combinations of aero, what have you. Maybe this was just another variation being checked out.

Good point but this assumes people like the car.

Agreed, on both points. Mostly.

It's really critical that Porsche prices it appropriately. I don't fully agree that even if it's 180k plus that it'll be fine. If they price it too high, it will take a dramatically larger depreciation hit. The hit will be softened by interest (i.e., how much people like the car), of course, but it won't be quite the same as the 997.2 GT3 RS 4.0, which was priced awesomely, to be honest.

The key is to leave enough room for people to option out their cars, and not break $200k too severely. Yes, RS 4.0's were $180k - $210k...

We had no winter over here this year. Hit freezing a few times but virtually no snow. I'd be very surprised if this wasn't the RS testing and it looks to be very recent.

Still, full leaves on trees and wildflowers in February/March? Well, you live there and would know better than me.

Well I dont know about that, but subjectively if you compare the two spyshots, which looks closer to "production"?

or...

Ok they are 2 different cars (PCCB vs Steel) wheels on the PCCB are "stock" GT3 ...

Top photo closer.

No guarantee GT variants will hold prices better, especially not first run. Used 997.1&2 GT3s could be bought much lower before Porsche went auto-only in 991 GT3, didn't put new motor in Cup, and Fed reflated system with funny money.

If you want it just buy it and drive it. Maybe you get lucky and maybe you don't.
