Buy CPO and then just drive the hell out of it without having to worry about a $70k engine

So have to go underneath the car and pull the cover off and should see the serial number? Anyone has a pic and what a G serial number would look like?

It’s found and etched circled below. It will start with either E, F or G.

Thanks so as long as it starts with a G then it's safe to say that engine should be good and good to purchase the GT3. Would it be better to buy a 2016 GT3 vs a 14/15 due to the engine problems?

If it has a center aftermarket exhaust it's stupid easy to see by just laying on your back at the back of the car. There are some YouTube vids that show exactly where using your phone. Will look like this. MA175 is the engine, G***** is the serial number. If it starts G6**** you're good to go. Early G's are G0****, F F*****, E E*****

Yes, G0 engines are better than E/F. G0 engines serial 5373 and up are G6 equivilant and the best, and serials below are the same minus the cams.

so, is G0 before 5373 not as updated as 5373+ but still somehow better than serials before G??

Since warranty is up in 4 months from now and you haven't replaced your original engine, can you request to replace it with the G6.....engine for preventive engine failure down the road?

Also, how do you know if the engine has not been replaced? Are they a certain ABCDE...code as well?

So it doesn't matter what year 14/15/16 GT3 they potentially will have engine failure correct? And if so, best to buy a GT3 with a replaced new engine.

You can always ask if they’ll do a preventative $60k job for you. I believe we know the answer

The easiest way is to let it sit above 8500 for some sustained time without relief and let it go.

But yes, you are correct, any engine that came in the car from the factory is sh*t, just varying degrees between.

Yes there were incremental changes from E, to F, then to G0 (V1), (V2), with G0v2 became G6.

Buy the Porsche Platinum service contract from your Porsche dealer. I bought 50k miles and 5 years for less than $7k. Well worth it IMHO.

I don't think Porsche cares about anything, just profit. I know case where they did not sell the 992 RS to a current RS owner, haha. Fir sure they will sell all of them, anyway. Do you think this engine is the only in this world with a known weak spot? Of course not. Do vw gave good wills for their ****ty melting pistons for example?
If mine would fail after the 15 year extended warranty I would not replace the whole engine for half of the car's cost, just the cams'n'FFs with the updated PN, dlc coated, or...some better fix that may or may not be available by 3rd party vendors.
You either assume the cost, whatever that is or sell.
