991.1 GT3 value after the 10yr engine warranty ends

But would still be very reasonable for Porsche if they simply stuck to the ten year warranty period.

Agree on both counts. I would think that may be how Porsche transitions from the 10 engine warranty to something that closes the book on the 991.1 engine warranty period. Meaning, no more warranty after the 10 year period and some relatively short warranty period post the 10 year period which would only cover those engines/parts replaced post xx/xx/xxxx date for each model year. Or similarly, have a one/two year warranty post the ten year warranty but only cover replacement engines/parts (e.g. G6 engines). Risk (cost) would be low as the G6 failure rate is very low.
But would still be very reasonable for Porsche if they simply stuck to the ten year warranty period.

Porsche will step up after the warranty period. They can’t have a car as good as the 991.1 dip below 100k when they expect to make 250-300 on a 992 that’s not that far off experience wise. Especially on the street.

Porsche doesn't make 250-300k on GT3s, that's the dealer markup profit, and dealers don't make the G6 engines.

I think the 991.1 GT3 is the best looking of the 911 GT cars, and it has a rawness which the later cars don't have. The performance level is also very high - regardless of whether newer 911 GT cars are faster, the 991.1 GT3 is still a very fast car by any reasonable standard. So if these engine concerns can be properly handled by Porsche, the 991.1 GT3 could go on to be a very sought after car. After 8 years of ownership, I still don't want to replace mine.

If Porsche decided to continue to warranty 991.1's that have not had a G6 installed after the 10 year period, that would create extra value for those cars. Knowing there was always a get out of jail free card if your E, F, or G0 engine went at any point down the road? I really can't see them doing that, but would be nice if they did.

My exact sentiments.
The front of the 991.1 GT3 , at least for me, is utter perfection and it gets better with age. Agree with you on the rawness, which is amplified with an exhaust upgrade. At cold start/idle , it has a German Nascar vibe ...the car seems always angry & eager ...which is a quality that seems to be completely missing from the new cars.
My hope is like everyone else's here, but I feel confident that someone like DeMan, Dundon, Sharkwerks or BGB Motorsports will do some development on our lumps and come up with a solve . Porsche made a ton of 991.1 GT3's, so there's a rather substantial opportunity to monetize this.
In the meantime...Porsche Platinum warranty on mine gives me comfort.

I believe Dundon had a solution and put it on hold after the 10 year warranty offer.

Yes, I spoke to Jamie a few months ago, and I can't say I blame him for putting it on hold. He sunk $150k into development before the COG resolution and will probably not recoup that for some time.
Ultimately, the progression of both time and reliability w/ the G6 will dictate who makes a move on a "fix" , but I can't imagine that PNA and the rest of the powers at be will leave us owners holding the bag. It is a GT3 after all .

They were smart to scramble and put out the warranty before they were forced to do a recall or get a class action suit slapped on them. It shut everybody up until they should be in the clear from a liability perspective.
Strictly speculation on my end, but I think the .1's are going to take a beating once the first youtuber, jalopnik, etc piece of content comes out of some poor sap staring down at a $50k+ bill. I unloaded mine last year just because I didn't feel like having some date over its head. I can say without exaggeration that maybe 1 of 5 people that called about it had a remote clue about the engine issue, port replacements and the final G6 - and it was only posted on Rennlist too. I really wouldn't be surprised if they sadly become sub-100k cars, even with the correct engine in them. Sad because they're absolutely amazing machines too.

I think that an engine that’s protected by PDK and properly maintained should last at least 100k miles, otherwise it’s defective. So the warranty on each new or replacement engine should be 100k miles. Or as a compromise, it should be at least 50k miles.
There shouldn’t be a time limit based on years, especially considering that these kinds of cars are rarely driven more than 5k miles a year. But again as a compromise, the time limit could be 5 years.

At the end of the day, it'll still be a 10 year old car. So it's reasonable to see how they'll get away with it.

There is a mechanical solution available through Dundon Motorsport. I posted photo of the cylinder head with the new followers attached. The warranty scuttled the solution moving forward at the time. However, after the warrant y period ends or gets close to the end, this will be available. Will Porsche step up? If I had to put $$ on it, I would say no. That would open then up to all other warranty issues past, present and in the future.
The 918 is their top of the line vehicle at present and those customers are left hanging for solutions, so my opinion is, the GT3 owner will be no different. If Porsche were going to offer a mechanical solution, they would have by now.
Stay in touch with Jamie and lets see where this all goes.
