That’s good. When i had my two misfires the tech followed protocols by swapping out coils and plugs and CEL never came back. The other time i got a misfire was for injectors. This was all back in 2021.

Do you have an E or F - Series motor?
I suspect the latter is harder to 'kill" seeing as they made iteration 'improvements' along the way.
Drive that awesome machine until the exhaust tips turn white (prob only possible on a track), then drive it some more. Eventually it will let-go.

I have a 12-2014 F engine too, number F02261

What I found on line, the improvment changes for the better were made on engine number F3048, ff dlc coated ect.

I can't tell if it's the PCNA stance or only the international stance, but for international it says in warranty terms that any genuine Porsche part sold (of which the customer pays for) gets a 2 year warranty, but if it's installed under warranty coverage (so customer doesn't pay for it) it doesn't get the 2 year part warranty.

What, only 100K miles?

The problem, I think, was that Porsche is trying to reduce cost and increase power at the same time. Wonderful if you can do it, but damn risky.

Seems the .2 generation got things sorted out.

My car is currently at the dealership waiting on it’s 4th motor. The latest was a G6 that lasted all of 9k miles. Unlike the previous motors this one really went out quite dramatically and poured a ton of oil into the exhaust. I’m interested to find out what caused it. In my opinion if Porsche doesn’t extend the motor warranties on these cars they’ll essentially be worthless.

When and what motors did you have installed previously? Mileage on the previous failures?

Believe this is only the second G6 I’ve read that has failed. Other was Manifold’s car which was not a FF failure.

The initial motor was the E0 or whatever one was recalled. The next engine was an E1 that lasted until 33k miles, and it went out due to a finger follower issue. That was then replaced by the current G6 that lasted another 9k. Mine was definitely a bottom end issue like Manifold’s. My service advisor is going to try to get me some pictures of the damage, and I’ll also ask if they can check the finger followers for wear. I’m definitely not “easy” on this car, but I also wasn’t doing anything the car shouldn’t be expected to handle.

Damn, that sucks. I thought I read Dundon has a solid lifter fix for these motors. Is that accurate? Not sure if that would be worth pursuing, even with a G6.

Fingers crossed for you, hopefully you get this resolved. Are they covering this under the warranty? I live in Frisco so I assume we have the same servicing dealer.

Hopefully He/We get the Answers for what the issue was on this G6* Engine. So i would suggest we let this play out and wait for RobbieMC to give us updates.

I don’t think many of us are putting enough miles on these cars to test the engines. I suspect that the failure rate is much higher for the cars that are driven thousands of miles each year.
