That may be the explanation for the one G6 that let go, it was a bottom end issue. At this point, the G6 has a better record than the 4.0 engine, they have been installing G6’s for 3 years plus now.

Thats awesome! I would assume Porsche and their engine division would be capable of figuring it out and make it better than most engines when all the details are ironed out. They've spent years working on it.

I've been wondering about this myself. I don't believe I've ever seen anyone post that swap had been done successfully or even tried. Folks will start getting creative once the 10yr runs out.

The core charge seems like it would spoil that plan for anybody that is conscious of budget. With the MA175, this contributes ~$30k. Not exactly peanuts.

I guess those of us that in 2024/25 that are still running E or F series engines will find out what if anything Porsche will do if they’ll actually do anything or just go sorry but your 10 yrs are up. ✌🏾

I mean....you can't really expect them to do anything more after a 10 year 120k warranty on the engine right?

Again, there should be a decent warranty on a replacement engine, starting when that engine is installed. Don't give me a dud engine a month before the 10 years expires, then tell me it's my problem if the dud engine fails six months later.

Follow Irsteve’s advice, pay to have the motor broken down before the warranty expires. 3k for piece of mind that parts aren’t worn down, or new motor if they find wear.

I was told that such action would not be honored, but who knows.
What I do know is that I was on the hook for approx $10K if the dealer found no faulty FF/cam wear evidence when removing my motor for the CEL analyses.
Thank goodness that was in-fact the new motor lottery CEL!

Wow that was a chance you were taking there.

So if they break it down preemptively and find wear, they won't give you a new motor? That sounds like a lawsuit brewing, since they extended the warranty for that specific problem. The warranty extension is for the wear, not for the CEL coming on. The CEL should not be a prerequisite for getting a new engine.

Agree, and a definite win in the end with a $70K new motor install.
The experienced tech also followed all initial analyses protocols with coil swaps, etc before delving further into the situation.
He knew the motor was gone, but still must follow Porsche protocols.

I would have to say take your car to a dealership (def not a third party assessment) and ask them to remove/take apart your motor because you 'suspect' wear, then see what they say.
