The 991 GT3/RS Cars For Sale Thread...

Wow so he could not sell $185k msrp 6MT with all those upgrades (worth probably another 8-10k) for $200k? And sold it for below msrp to dealer? The market has seemed have really shifted here. 6 months ago that car would sell for $230k.

i told him id buy it at msrp. he wouldnt budge below 195

I looked at past BAT auctions and a lot of RNMs recently and sold ones certainly a lot less than a few months ago. It seems like game is at msrp for anything close to or above 10k miles and $10k over for cars with low miles.

Funny, I used to spend hours reading on here about pricing trends, sales relative to MSRP, and all the relatively meaningless prognostication ---then I realized I was not getting any younger, stopped wringing my hands, and sacked up and bought one of these divine beasts. I wish the same for anyone in my former position. You have no idea what you are missing...at least I didn't. Cheers!

I looked at BAT sales for several different cars over time and there was a consistent 30% premium over other auction sites. yes anecdotal, yes small sample size, however it was significant enough you saw it right away.

On a live webinar a while back, the BMW CCA showed an analysis of BAT results and concluded BAT sales figures were somewhere around 25%-30% (don't remember exact figure) higher than comparable sales through other mediums. I think it's widely accepted that BAT sales generally bring above top dollar, particularly in collector car circles. The % is probably smaller on stuff over $100K, but there is still a significant premium, on average. This isn't to say that BAT inflates prices on purpose, and it's probably more of a byproduct of a public auction setting, less due diligence and a strong marketing/branding effort that leads to people mistakenly believing the cars are somewhat vetted by BAT and are top of the crop.
If you're a seller, BAT is THE place to sell. As a buyer, it's probably too competitive to get a decent deal. There are always exceptions, but they're infrequent. For what they are, BAT does a great job in operating the platform and has managed to disrupt even the large collector car auction houses due to their attractive fee structure.

i sold my car for more than the highest offer on BAT. It might have been due to the new RS release that same week, but other 991.2 RS's have done the same.

I recently picked up an RS from a dealer and got more than I expected on my 2019 991.2 GTS trade. It was hassle free exchange, drop off the car and pick up the new car. Also it’s probably in my favor to build a stronger relationship with the dealer than sell private. So overall I wouldn’t be surprised if the seller traded at or slightly below your offer.

I usually tell people BaT is a great place to sell but not to buy.

2022 White Touring 6spd just went for $300k + $5k BaT fee, against sticker of $195,680. Great spectator sport.

I would absolutely sell my car on BAT; it attracts a lot of testosterone and nothing leads to weird outlier bids like two or more men trying to compete against each other to win something, with logic taking a back seat. There was some genius who paid OVER MSRP for a 4-year old M4 a couple months back.
