that car had issues holding it back IMO. 11k miles, no FAL, the roll cage takes money off because despite it being a track car, people would obviously prefer no track miles. Also, it seemed like the owner missed it on some basic q&a. All of those factors would have kept my bidding aggression lower.

no FAL is a big hit on resale value observationally but 183k high bid (incl. buyer's premium) still well below MSRP like you noted. If this had PDK and/or higher miles, wonder where it'd have landed...

Far and away the most satisfying thing we parents do, right?
So my car budget (and most else) has always been very very thin as compared to most on these threads from what I can tell. So I was drawn to the .1 RS when I began searching because 1) it fit my budget (I still have one child finishing a medical residency in San Fran and cost of living there requires that we help him…a lot..which is fine) and 2) IT FIT MY BUDGET lol. My use case is pretty simple—spirited driving and something to buff and polish thereafter. As an engineer early in life, I do love the insightful technical discussions that others offer on the .1 RS, the .2 GT3, and the .2 RS. I have not furthered this discussion much with this, but rather wanted to affirm to someone in angst over the three models that with the right perspective, you will be THRILLED with any choice you make.
P.S. I do love the more limited or reserved aero bits on the .1–and that’s without regard to budget lol
Great post. Having raised four, however, I might quibble with the idea that raising them is the most satisfying things we do (just kidding - of course it is and it is fantastic when they are all launched on their journeys).

That said, I do know that I will enjoy any of the three. I rented a GT3 on Turo and loved it. Have driven the other two short distances and they are fantastic. And, I also know that I will never be able to approach any of the car's limits (at least not without risking life and limb). But, it is also in my nature to agonize over every decision and research everything to death till I go ahead and purchase anything. Cars, watches, speakers, etc. So, unfortunately this is just my normal process. It is great, however, in reading these threads to see that I am far from the only one. Because while I am lucky enough to be able to afford nice cars at this stage in my life (didn't buy my first new car till I was almost 40), I also don't like throwing away money needlessly.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to respond.

This is an old wives tale, it costs 3500. It is not free

I had no FAL, no PCCB, no Full leather, No weissach and I sold my 2019 gt3rs for 25k over sticker with 7,300 miles in July 2021 to a PORSCHE DEALER, who then sold for more...

FAL is not a big deal on these cars, you are going to scrape the front end if u drive it enough regardless on something u dont see.

Not a wives tale. I wouldn’t have the car that I do if it didn’t have FAL.

Don't believe it. Been reliably informed .2 RS is a sub-200k car, GT3 value Armageddon is upon us, and there's no way the leading authority on these matters sold wholesale for 25k over sticker just 1 yr ago.

Sorry I misspoke, I sold it for 24k over. They asked 45k over and it sold within a week so probably close

For the record I could not believe I got this much for it. Fun DD while it lasted

I don't see those as issues. 11k miles is certainly not high mileage so that can't be an "issue". FAL is useful but if we're honest, most of these cars spend a lot more time on a battery tender in a garage than out on the road and they aren't being driven daily where pulling into steep driveways and parking lot transitions would be an issue. Roll bar is easily removable and many are installed by cars and coffee posers for looks.

The real reason this car went for what it did is because the entire GT market bubble is deflating, albeit slowly. Even for desirable color manual PTS cars, which this one was. We're still in the denial phase but for those paying attention, prices are slowly trending down.

Whether or not it is practically useful is not what I am debating, on BAT there has been a clear value divide between cars with it and without. There are of course outliers but in aggregate, there's certainly a discernible trend

You mean like the last 991 gt3rs that actually sold on bat?: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...-911-gt3-rs-7/

Only got 42k over sticker.....and it didnt have FAL. Yeah that really killed the value

i'm not sure you read the part where I explained RELATIVE valuation, IE having FAL makes value higher RELATIVE to not having it. Again you are pointing to an example in isolation without having a counter example with FAL to compare what it would have gotten.
