I am not in the camp of a price drop anytime soon. I am not a current owner, but would like to purchase in a couple years. I posted a while back about picking a .2 when it was about 5yrs old. I figured 130k or so. Well boy have things changed.
There are an abundant amount of gt cars on the market and prices have risen. There are also an abundant amount of buyers at various price points. If prices dropped a little to msrp levels on .2’s, sideline buyers would jump. There is also the 992 coming to market, which surely will be in short supply. 99% of these cars will have significant adms. They will all sell adm or not for those that can get an allocation. The alternatives would be to wait for the 992.2, buy a preowned gt car, or go elsewhere. The short supply of the 992 and adm inflated price will pull up the market on all gt cars, which has happened and in my belief will continue to happen.
Porsche could have gotten out in front of this if it cranked out 992s without restriction. It would have benefited from extra sales and at the same time dampened the circus with the ADMs and secondary market. Unfortunately, the chip shortage might stop them from carrying that out.

Skipping the 992 GT3 and waiting for the RS version, though that will be even harder to get and with a higher ADM.
I would disagree with you there. The .1 was an epic design that the .2 ruined with the Lamboesque front bumper. And the 992 in the flesh looks amazing, and appears to be a better performer as well. Nothing special about the .2 IMO, but it’s all personal preference.
I'm not ruling out the 992. It has grown on me a bit, I'm on the list at two dealers and have a good shot at one being #6 in line. However when I first laid eyes on the .2 I didn't have to consider whether I liked it. The .2 bumper is one of the design elements I like most on the car. In comparison I personally think the front bumper on the .1 looks terrible. Combine that with the engine issues...was never a consideration for me.

Apologies, have I been living under a rock? What engine issues ?

Back in '14 many delivered GT3's had finger follower problems. Most of the 800 or so received new engines and a 10yr/100-120K warranty. Could be more to the issue that I'm ignorant of.
Sold for $220,500 including fees. The bidding war at the end between the last two bidders was a joke. They were at $210k and bidding in $250 incraments until they got to $210,750. It looked like the auction was gonna end there, but then one of them bid $215k with 10 seconds to go. Then they started bidding in $250 incraments till they get to the selling price of $215,500 not including the $5k fee for buyers premium.
BAT is on a 4 month roll of basically non stop .2 GT3/RS’s being auctioned on their sight and the streak continues. On BAT, when one .2 GT3/RS auction ends, another one starts.
What's interesting is to see where the market is going, not where it has been: look in the 992 forums as to how people are speccing their cars. Chalk, White, Black, and GT Silver are trending out. Bold colors like Shark Blue and Guards Red are on the upswing. PTS colors like the more subtle greens are becoming especially popular.
I also can believe that demand for 991.2 Tourings is going to continue to trend upwards as the reviews of the 922 Touring become available and it seems that reviewers think that PDK is a better fit for that car.

Agreed, bold colors and PTS are always in demand.
I watched four reviews of the Touring, half said PDK (probably because it’s a new option) while the other half still favored manual.
The 991.2 is the best looking GT3 out of them all including the 992. The 991.2 also hasn't had much if any of the bad press that the .1 had. Imo it stands on its own as the one to have.
I disagree. The .1 is a much better looking car all around. Would I prefer a.2 for the performance ? Of course. But no denying the the more classic look of a .1 is more appealing.

Well, the good news is that neither of us is right or wrong... I think the front end of the .1 is amazing. Looks like a proper, aggressive GT worthy style, while the .2 looks more like a Turbo front end.
