That's effectively shorting the market - you just need to borrow the cars instead of using your own and hey presto - lol

BAT is on a 4 month roll of basically non stop .2 GT3/RS’s being auctioned on their sight and the streak continues. On BAT, when one .2 GT3/RS auction ends, another one starts.

What better car are you going to get for $215,000 than a 991.2 GT3? Yes, you can get a nice GT3 for just under $200k but you're going to make a sacrifice on (pick one) miles, color, options., history.

Even post-COVID market adjustment, I don't think .2 GT3's are going to ever be out of high demand. You can thank 992 GT3 ADM's and the lack of alternatives to this car.

Hell, I dunno. As a GT car buyer, I'm just not seeing anything compelling out there where I'd want to put my money.

Nothing today, but 6-9 months from now that $215k .2 GT3 is gonna be worth $175k again.

6-9 months from now, who knows what else will happen. You might be dead. ICE engines may be banned from operating on public roads etc etc etc
Are you suggesting that a $200k+ car purchase is going to grind the market to a halt and no one will buy these cars in the Spring of 2022 save for a huge discount?
Interest rates will be still relatively low, markets will continue to do better (ideally after the noise around VOC's die down) and North American and global economies will ultimately surpass what we saw pre-COVID.
People drop $30-50k on a week luxury family vacation these days easily... I personally don't see such a bearish outlook for these cars, who's true value is now being recognized by the masses, hence the persistent demand.

The 991.2 is the best looking GT3 out of them all including the 992. The 991.2 also hasn't had much if any of the bad press that the .1 had. Imo it stands on its own as the one to have.

Persistent demand? You call six months persistent? And everything else you described is nothing new. This idea that it’s some new paradigm and GT3s suddenly became an appreciating asset is laughable. It’s a bubble, and people are getting caught up in the euphoria of it. I don’t feel sorry for the money to burn crowd, for whom this is pennies. I feel sorry for the guy who stretches to get in one of these cars at these inflated prices because he thinks that current price levels reflect a stable value for the car.

I would disagree with you there. The .1 was an epic design that the .2 ruined with the Lamboesque front bumper. And the 992 in the flesh looks amazing, and appears to be a better performer as well. Nothing special about the .2 IMO, but it’s all personal preference.

some people just what they want and will not make any concessions to options/color choice regardless of price or if its a 'deal' . i saw a few nice PTS cars during my search in late 2020, some at or under msrp (riv blue and oak green). but i ended up paying over msrp for my chalk. zero regrets.

Something else that is not mentioned as often when discussing the demand and resale cost for the 991.2 Touring: Scarcity. There were not many Tourings produced. Between the 2018 and 2019 models, there were 684 991.2 Tourings built for the USA. 33 for Canada. Between the USA and Canada, there are 155 PTS Tourings, approximately 38 of which are MY 2019.

The scarcity of the 991.2 Touring is not going away. I do not foresee 991.2 Touring prices coming down with the release of the 992 Touring.

agree with that. I think the 991.2 touring will hold its own against the 992. In fact as an every day street car for someone that doesn't want attention the 991 probably makes more sense.

684 is a fair amount, if just 10% of them hit the market at any given time you better bet the prices will come down. Add to that there are new models coming out and people will inevitably start “trading up” to get the freshest wheels.

I am not in the camp of a price drop anytime soon. I am not a current owner, but would like to purchase in a couple years. I posted a while back about picking a .2 when it was about 5yrs old. I figured 130k or so. Well boy have things changed.
There are an abundant amount of gt cars on the market and prices have risen. There are also an abundant amount of buyers at various price points. If prices dropped a little to msrp levels on .2’s, sideline buyers would jump. There is also the 992 coming to market, which surely will be in short supply. 99% of these cars will have significant adms. They will all sell adm or not for those that can get an allocation. The alternatives would be to wait for the 992.2, buy a preowned gt car, or go elsewhere. The short supply of the 992 and adm inflated price will pull up the market on all gt cars, which has happened and in my belief will continue to happen.

Everything is expensive right now. Will it continue? Who knows! What we do know is that interest rates will remain low for the foreseeable future (probably forever a la Japan 🇯🇵 ) which means that asset prices rise.

There is just SO much money in the system, even ignoring the thin-air wealth creation that cryptocurrency has had.

If you want a GT3, just get one. No one has any idea what’s going to happen in 1 year. If prices go down, well, you still have one of the best cars money can buy! If prices go up, you have one of the best cars money can buy, and some $$ on top!

This is the thought process I had so I’m probably projecting as I just bought at these inflated prices 😂.
