Bingo, while at its simplest it's easy to say "supply and demand, economics 101 LOL IDIOT!!11", but I believe that's short-sighted and a little intellectually lazy.

There are still firms who live and die by transactions, plus allocations if you're a dealer. These firms will always be the first spot for individuals for a hassle-free transaction.

I'm not willing to write it all off on new wealth from WSB creating this unfounded demand as indicated by market pricing or people assuming that nobody likes the 992 (which is laughable). Yes, it's a supply problem but with a dealer/broker accelerant on the flame.

I don't have much interest on speculating on futures as I have the black sheep GT car which I love dearly. But have no interest in pre-maturely exiting the market in future anticipation on the misfortune of others.

Interesting comment. In a hot market like this where the rising tide lifts all boats, would "black sheep" cars also not achieve some kind of a lift (if not just better liquidity)? Cars with damage/accident records, perhaps the .1 GT3s (perceived engine worries) or less desirable configurations should all be benefiting, no?
If there is any time, I would suspect its now to sell this type of product if one is on the fence?

Absolutely, I'm sure right now could likely be top dollar, particularly with a fresh G6 for those who are wish washy on .1's for long-term reliability and don't have the stomach for $180k+ on a GT car in the broader 991 generation as a whole.

However, then what? Sit around and hope to wait for the market to come back to a perceived normal on a .2/.1 RS? Or shell out the same relative $50k gap that existed 12-18 months ago?

Hard pass, I'm in my late 30's, in good health. I'm not wasting this summer, next summer or the summer after that hoping to time the market or life circumstances. Time and experiences are limited.

I always go back to the old adage; Time in the market is better than timing the market.

Unless somebody PM'd me offering $140k, then all bets are off

Yup. So many RS’s listed on Autotrader. Almost every single GT3 listed is from a dealer and not private party. There is maybe 1-2 private party ads.

Above is the exact scenario a friend of mine just went through. End of year 992 allocation but required to trade in 991.2 PDK right now. 9k miles on the car. They turned around and listed the car for 42k over his trade in.

I’m seeing “we’ll buy your car Porsche/GT car” all over my Instagram.

I know that life is short, but this seems like a bad time to buy into a GT3/RS! I wonder when things will calm back down.

ICE engines are being legislated out of production. Covid and chip shortage are an accelerant, but for those who want a performance ICE vehicle, there will soon be no options. The writing is on the wall. I do not expect the prices to ever “come back down to Earth.”

My guess is they will come down closer to "normal."

Last summer, a winged PDK GT3 was a $150k car. Now that's a $180-190k car. I think pricing will be closer to the latter eventually. No idea if it'll be 6, 9, 12, or 18 months from now.

And obviously it's an actual sale - not an asking price. It's crazy time. White hot car model in a red hot overall market.

The two highest recent Touring sales prices (that are public at least...this one and the one on BAT in March) were both equipped with sofas. Coincidence? Discuss....

This GT3RS with Weissach package and magnesium wheels, just sold today for $260k on BaT. I actually thought it would go higher given the crazy environment at the moment.
