Yes.

correct, even on used RS’s with thousands of miles they are still firm at $10k+ over, and they’ll get it.

only two year old (2018’s) high mileage winged base GT3’s are trading around or below msrp.

You are right. I have been following Autotrader for months very closely. Something I've also noticed in the last several weeks are the amount of cars for sale has shrunk.

3 weeks ago:
.1 RS - 108 units
.2 RS - 108 units

Today:
.1RS - 86 units
.2 RS - 97 units

That is 33 units less today versus three weeks ago, a 15% reduction in available cars for sale on Autotrader. I wonder why all of a sudden. My car sat unsold for nine months. Still baffles me as to why. Just glad I was able to get it.

my GUESS is, 991 had new engine architecture, new tech (rear steering), new interface... I would believe 992 will improve all of that so called NEW tech.
997 is outdated
you cant not really outdate an outdated technology.
so it's a classic.
Exactly this.

Saying a 991 will be a classic is like saying a Ferrari 488 will be a classic.

As we are specifically talking about 2019 GT3RS the closer comparison would be 2014-2015 458 Speciale.

488 is a mass produced model built for 4+ years and turbocharged.

absolutely. But if the trend continues, the numbers will get larger still, as long as there are buyers. The economy in the next year may throw a wrench in that, granted.

They all will be classics. Sooner than you think. Just wait and see regulations forbid ICE cars. Before that you won't see NA cars any longer. They have produced enough GT cars its true but they will eventually be disappearing from the market.
Me personally won't see that happen but my son or grandchildren for sure.

I think some of you are so asset driven that you’re confusing “collectible” with “classic”

I can think of plenty of iconic classic cars that don’t command big prices.

I know everybody likes to divide up the various trims of the 991 to validate to themselves that they picked the correct one (ie this thread). But they’re not special.

Just come to grips with that they made too many; however, the automotive landscape in 10-15 years will not even be recognizable. Thus, making these cars “classic”. Let’s be happy that Porsche made enough for everybody who wanted one.

now if 992 is hybrid or nuclear powered. then 991 will be classic.
Just saying that based on your opinion of the classic status of previous gens, it’s more probable that in the future it’s unlikely the 991 will be viewed the red headed step child of the gt cars with respect to that status. It’s too good for that. it’s all guesswork, I know. It was kind of eye opening for me to read your assessment, because I just hadn’t thought about them all together like that.

anyway, just my 2 cents.

Really? Weird. I picked up a brand new 2019 GT3RS from a dealer in Texas less than two weeks ago. They seemed quite satisfied to get MSRP.
