Correct me if I'm wrong, but how are you loosening or tightening the front wheels with Renntorq without someone holding the brakes? I'm using the Renntorq tool but you still need to hold down the brakes with an assistant or spreader clamp to prevent the front wheels from turning while tightening or loosening.

A spreader clamp like this works great.

Great point, don't be tempted to break this free when the car has weight on that wheel

Received my RennTorq last week and used it today for the first time. I have been dealing with center locks since 2011 and my 997.2 GT3. But lately I have shoulder issue and having the RennTorq made the CL's a non-issue. This tool is awesome.

How much force is needed to remove the wheels? I got a tool a month ago and finally got to try it today, cannot get my center locks off. On my torq wrench its already gotten up to 138ft-lb of torque

The removal should take around 95-100 pounds when using the tool. Try a breaker bar instead - you shouldn't really be using a torque wrench to remove bolts.

Additionally we know that Porsche themselves are comfortable with the method as it is nearly identical to what they are doing at the factory in the video below @ 9.25. I will admit I was skeptical as well until I had it made up and tried it on my own car.

Yep same as the factory tool...excellent engineering young man thanx for sharing the video. It was "almost" worth putting up with shmee's squealing 12 year old excited girly voice to see the factory tool.

When a large amount of torque is required to remove the Centerlock, that is a signal that you need to break down, clean, grease, and reassemble the bolt parts. I think most parts get the aluminum paste, but not the flat washer...

See from Page 6 of attached instructions:

Maybe you need a longer breaker bar? What size are you using (with or without RENNTorq tool)? My bar is over 5ft long and needed most of my 200 pounds (without tool) to break loose before I rebuilt the bolts...

using a 25" breaker bar with the tool, and torque wrench already went up to 140ft lb and none of the 4 wheels would unlock

How do you know you’ve been reverse rotating at 140? Does the torque wrench click in reverse mode?

Anyway, 140 is only about 150% of the tightening torque and it can take more than that to loosen if the bolts need servicing.

If you’re confident you’re doing it correctly, get a longer breaker bar (or a pipe over the existing one to lengthen)
