KKenosha - thanks for your comments, I made similar calculations while developing the tool and came to the same conclusion. Seeing that Porsche uses the same technique (electrically driven) to mount GT3/Turbo S wheels at the factory further convinced me it was safe.

We've been having fun shipping tools around the world to start the year (including one above the Arctic Circle!), and are trying to keep a few tools in stock for quick shipment as we head into the track/cars & coffee season.

If I can help with anything please let me know.

Thanks,

John

Assuming the 10 spoke wheels shows in the video, roughly 694 ft/lbs of torque would be applied to each spoke. I do not know the length of the reaction bar portion of the RennTorq device, but rough calculation would indicate that it is probably exerting a force similar to what the wheel would experience under full throttle acceleration. Braking forces are even higher, and the wheels are (of course) designed to handle these loads with a significant safety margin. Based on this, the tool should be quite safe, even beyond the max output torque.

I bought one of these from John a month or so ago.
Very happy I did. I change wheels frequently and this is so worth having for me!
It is a very nice tool!

I'm glad the tool is working well for you and thank you for the business. The combination of Golf Blue and the wheels you have on your car looks outstanding!

Works great and makes the job "blemish free" for your exterior paint where a conventional breaker always has that possibility of whacking your paint when 450+ft-lbs applied and slips

Thanks Perimeter! We demonstrated the tool on a 992 GT3 in the video below to show how fast it actually is.

We're confident this is the fastest way to get a centerlock wheel off or on the car. The simplicity of the tool (no batteries, chargers, etc), and an unmatched form factor (carrying case is 11" x 9" x 3.5") have led to a lot of satisfied customers.

Any good recommendations for both clockwise and counter clockwise action? My 50-250 just died, not calibration but plastic handle and time to replace.

Luv the renntorq~!!!

i use this torque wrench with Renntorq. You can use it to break the centerlock loose.

Does it work in counter clockwise? Cause there is the limit for the renntorq.

Yes

  • any force applied to the tool after the 'click' or applied in the opposite direction to the current function – e.g. forcible loosening of a jammed screw - does not act on the trigger mechanism and cannot cause damage to it.”

Does the trigger mechanism work in the counter clockwise direction though? Just dont wanna ruin the renntorq by going over 155.

Stahlwille's come with a certificate of calibration and thereafter can be calibrated with an Allen wrench (and appropriate calibrated torque). They hold their calibration really well (many years, in my experience).

No, don't think it will click counter-clockwise. The best way to ensure no over-torque to multiplier is to rebuild and lubricate the centerlock bolt mechanisms every year if used frequently (otherwise it sometimes takes a bunch of force to break loose - could use a breaker bar instead of Renntorq in those cases, if needed).

No it doesn't click counter clockwise. This wrench is only 18" long, to reach 155 ft-lb (over 720 ft-lb at the nut!) you'll need to exert a lot of force. At that point you'll know to stop and using a 5ft breaker bar instead.....
Make sure your centerlock is properly lubricated with the anti-sieze especially on the threads you will not have problem.
