I work at Studio RSR in Socal and we work on many Porsche roll cages, and track prep. I made a customer appreciation post but it was removed since im not a sponsor and to contact IB sales. Whats the process of becoming a sponsor for this?
The quick answer is Yes!!! Launch control is available on a car with out sport chrono.
The long answer. The GT cars are different. Porsche already has the engine tuned at one level (i.e. sport plus, maximum performance). Where as the non GT cars come with a sport button and then you can add sport chrono ($$$'s) which is an even more aggressive engine/transmission tune. Plus it add launch control. This is where people get confused. The only thing the on the 16 that the sport chrono adds is the clock on the dash and the track timing software.
On the PDK-S (which is only on the GT cars), Porsche adds a PDK-Sport button. This basically enables a race track program, all shifts are at or close to red line, and the shifting is fast as the transmission drops the clutches without slipping them.
I prefer the non sport chrono GT's since it doesn't have the wart (clock) on the dash, keeps things clean and classic looking.
