^^ the curse of not being a dual compound tread like the Cup2s. Might have to run less camber if running the 4S for long periods of time.

Same thing happened to me. Ended up buying Dunlop’s to replace, because the negative camber I had dialed in for the track is not something I wanted to give up on. The new Dunlop’s at the same alignment are wearing very evenly after two weekends at the track.

Exact same experience. Switched to cup 2’s and getting probably double the tread life.

I still have a virtually-new set of Dunlops - the originals that came on the car from the factory - that I pulled off after 250 easy (break-in) miles. But I'm afraid of using them or Cup 2's in either the rain or cold weather.

Is there another all-around tire I should consider? Like the Continental DWS-06's maybe?

In the middle, the fronts have 7/32" of tread left. Rears have 5/32". They started new with 9/32".

Just wondering how everyone else is doing with their 4S's wear-wise.

Is this occurring from the track or just roads and canyons?

100% roads. And less than 1% highways or interstates. I live in the Smoky Mountains...

Wow this is interesting to see the ps4s wear like this, but I mean it makes sense since it’s not a dual compound! I really wanted to run this tire on my car, considering I’ve had very good success with them on other cars! I have these on a Huracan right now with -2.5 and -2 camber but only maybe have had that setup for 500 miles so only time will tell how the tires will last!

The PS4S tires are absolutely amazing tires, what pressures are you running when you in the canyons? The outerwear like this comes from a few items, the tire is under inflated, 2nd item is you are over driving the car. The spring rates in the these cars are very soft, so if you hit corners too fast and turn in, you will destroy the outer shoulders, ask me how I know? LOL. These tires are amazing, but they will come apart and wear out when they are driving too hard, they are great cruising tires, basic track tires, but one you go above that, you need a Cup2 tire or Race2 tires. However, again, please note, even with better tires, if you under inflate or over drive into corners, you will destroy the shoulders.

And I would get a proper alignment as well, depending on how fast you plan to drive, I would try to obtain -2.5 in the fronts and -2 in the back. And to achieve this, you will need to install a adjustable rear tow link, like from Terret, etc.

This is inner wear, not outer wear. Outer shoulders look normal.

Pressures are per door sticker. 29F 33R cold. They heat up to 32/36 in spirited driving.

the only way this occurs is if the camber is so off, meaning instead of -2.5, somehow you have like +2, so when going around corners, the inner corner is taking the brunt force, so you better take it to proper alignment shop to see what’s up

My understanding is that negative camber means the weight is on the INSIDE of the tire. Which would explain my wear. If I had positive camber I would expect the OUTSIDE to wear at the shoulder.

The insides of my tires are gone - not the outsides. What am I missing?

Too much camber will indeed wear the inside of the wheels. Usually when you have a lot of wear on the inside it's from too much camber and not driving the car hard, like a lot of freeway miles. When you drive the car hard, you push the tire over in a turn, and will wear the outside of the tires.

i have never seen this on a standard car setup, if he is running like -3.5 camber, then perhaps, goes back to getting this car into shop to see what’s going on.

remember, he said less than 1% on highways/freeways. If mainly in canyons, this makes no sense.

It's quite common on any lowered car. My old 993 daily driver had this issue when it was used to commute 80mi a day. 911's in general are hard on tires, especially the rears. I have never got more than a year from my rear tires.

I changed the Cup2 to PSS4 on delivery and have about 4.5K miles on them. Just had yearly service at dealer and they looked ok. I did have a 4 wheel alignment done when installed at dealer delivery in 2/18. My main reason was wet road performance here in south Florida. Cup2s not good at all in the wet.
