If Porsche decided that 620-650 hp was not enough, it would make a lot of sense to add electric to the front axles as it solves a bunch of issues for them...

drivability improves as the electric will fill in and mask any high boost turbo lag with instant torque (like 918, P1, LaFerrari)

better traction under acceleration in order to get the power down.

potential for "city" or "stealth" mode under pure electric with zero emissions

better weight distribution

Downside is increased weight and complexity...and perhaps some steering feel.

Would be great to see Porsche push the limits with the 991 GT2 RS, with focus on track use with weight loss and little concession to road niceties. 650-700 hp would be good too.

Starting to run out of garage space with 991 RS, 997 GT3 and 991.1 TTS there but will make room for such a beast.

No easy way to increase capacity of current PDK in 991. Maybe repurpose 918 or use new PDK but doubt they'd put those kinds of resources behind an aging platform.

Yes guys running 900-1000hp+ in 991 TT(S) are either using manual or blowing up PDKs. Cooling issues, non serviceable and no clutch pack upgrades.

The last GT2RS made 625hp 7 years before this one. How could that possibly be enough? Not sure if it'll have electric or not (the new motor could certainly make 700hp on its own if they choose), but no way it's going to have less or the same power as the last version...

The competition (couple years old now and even older with GT2 RS release) already has 675hp (F488 and 675LT).

Last 997 gt3 also had 500hp and they haven't eclipsed that yet (they will next 3rs I'm sure). They can make a 991 gt2rs WAY faster than 997 with simile power by adding pdk, more down force, better suspension and rws, just to name a few. I bet speed comes more from those items that extra power. 3rs took that route.

You're absolutely right, since 1995 993 GT2 Racing was RWD and that defined GT2 and so it was with 996 and 997. So it should not be called GT2 anymore if it would be AWD...
