Keeps the temperature down in the engine compartment. Valuable down here where we autox/track in 100 degree weather.

Those orange ***** come out when the windows go down for racing. Air flows in and passes into the engine compartment. When sitting idling, the heat radiates up and out through them.

@sasilverbullet Well done! I can understand how those would be immensely helpful for track-driving at considerable speed, but in a setting like autocross where you're near at a dead stop for all but 60-90 seconds, I'd be worried about them heating up the cabin area with the heat rising up. I'm in Austin so well acquainted with the heat you speak of!

BTW, what cage is that? Looks great.

The autocross season is officially over, though we'll still have one more weekend for fun and not points. The course was the same on both days, just run in different directions. Sunday felt faster, though the time was a bit lower on Saturday. The car is definitely ready for a suspension refresh, as it rolls like crazy in the corners.

Swapped my 19" Champion Forged Wheels with Federal 595RS-PRO's on them. Fr 255/35 Rear 275/35
With 18" original Cayman wheels with Conti's on them. Fr 235/40 Rear 265/40

The fronts are 2.8 lbs lighter and the rears 1.4 lbs lighter.

Reason is to see if on the next AutoX I like the lighter/smaller wheels. Will let everyone know.

I think you’ll feel more difference from the tires vs the size. There were Federal tires on my car when I got it- not a good tire.

Yesterday I installed an Ebay short shifter in my 987.2 2.9. Had to machine the cups to get them to fit and shorten one of the pins just so it would fit....other than that the result is great.

Today I pulled the engine front cover and inspected the belt and pulleys. When I pulled the belt it was in such good shape I threw the new one I was going to install into my emergency box. All the pulleys were smooth and no leaks. Buttoned her back up and then proceeded to vac the air intakes of their fall accumulation of leave.

Went for a nice drive....

Had a Kenwood DMX8521S head unit fitted - Apple CarPlay and reverse camera. And front and rear “Dash” cams.

As of course, some heat retained in disks is good and promotes effective braking.

Interested to hear your comments after some time driving, assuming you get onto it sometimes through the twisty bits and need to come to stop fast with cold brakes at least occasionally...
I've had these on my car for about 2 years. Only 1 track day (thought I'd be doing more when I installed them). I never noticed any ill effect on street braking. No fade either.

Sadly, tucked it in for the winter. Slid over into the top corner of the garage so I can get 3 cars in for the winter.
