What did you do with your 987 today?

Here and there over the last 2 weeks machine polished the car, chased every scratch and finished off with Kamikaze ISM 3.0. Need to get some better pictures, but the weather has been lousy. Reflects like a mirror though.

I've had my 987S for a year and its time for its 2nd oil change:
I tucked the car away 5 stories up here in Sarasota for Hurricane Ian. Thankfully no issues but really feeling for those folks who lost everything.

good idea! My friend did that with his GT3. Car was fine but the house/area suffered damage and he couldn’t even bring it home for weeks. Slept in the car for 3 days even… 🤣

Thankfully I won't have to sleep in the 987, not sure my back would ever recover from that! 4 days without power, but otherwise we are fine and feeling blessed.

Finally found a hardtop for a great deal. ordered up the spin locks and installed them, took about 30mins to install the spin locks so that wasn't too bad. Then made the adjustments to lower the hardtop tighter again the clamshell. so about 1/4 gap now. love the top can wait to paint it!

Not today but Saturday I spent another couple of hours trying to refresh the Alcantara on my steering wheel. After over 14 years of benign neglect from several previous owners, I recently attempted to clean the material for maybe the first time in its life. After several rounds of squeezing out far too much filth from the fibers using a damp microfiber cloth and a bucket of warm water with a drop of laundry detergent (Free and clear of dyes and perfumes! Hypoallergenic! Dermatologist tested!) I managed to get the wheel clean, but once dry it was left covered with pills like an old sweater.
Since then I've been alternating between trying to brush out the fibers and shaving off the pills with an electric groomer/shaver. I think I've reached the point where I'm either going to live with the wheel having a nap similar to the mouse fur that lines the cargo areas, or recover or replace the wheel. I'm done trying to restore it.
On a side note, the company I work for manufactured, and I designed, the light fixtures in that parking garage. The man in charge of the engineering department at the time that product was developed has a winter home in Sarasota. It's a small world, after all.

Exactly why I avoid Alcantara on the wheels and gear ****. At that point, I'd probably just have it reupholstered. There's some great places online, even eBay classifieds, although I prefer local. Good luck!
