After much deliberation and quotes from a variety of shops, I've ordered a carbon fiber flat bottom steering wheel for to replace my classic (triangle design) steering wheel. Will post pictures when it arrives. I'm excited to replace the single most antiquated thing about this otherwise very cool car. Just can't have adaptive sport seats, short throw shifter, and the equivalent of a school bus steering wheel.

Aligned the text on my start/stop button.

Setup the PKE so the car auto unlocks when the keys are within a few feet of the car.

Tidied up the fusebox with a pair of fuse taps (one for the aftermarket headunit to ignition, one so the start/stop doesn't need the brake depressing to constant)

2009 987.2 S with Capristo catted headers and valved exhaust.

This week I pulled the calipers for fresh powdercoat and seals, new braided brake lines, spark plugs, and coils. The plugs suuuuucked--super long threads and really tight semi-galling. The rest of the job was a breeze though. Then a bit of opportunistic cleanup--ultrasonic bath and scrubbed the fender liners and heat shields, thorough cleaning, de-tarring, and waxing of the wheels.

I have the aftermarket aluminum pan and was going to do the PDK service but I want to drive it so that may wait a week or two.

I replaced all 9 speakers a couple months ago. It was a tough call to replace the nice PCM 3.0 head unit, but I'm installing a real subwoofer in the trunk and an amp and it just made more sense to install a nice android auto head unit instead of $600 on an interface module to get the Porsche unit to play nice with the rest of the system. So I hope to have that done this weekend.

After 15 years, my headliner started to droop last week. Went to a local upholstery shop and talked to them. They quoted me the price both with their labor of having to remove and reinstall, and then the price if I just brought in the headliner myself.

Saved a whole ton of money and pulled the headliner myself and took it over to them. They recovered it with some nice foam backed material in a matching color. I’ll be reinstalling it this evening.

While I had it out, I went ahead and cover the interior roof with adhesive backed sound and heat deadening material.

Love the Dragon, very fun road! I see you are from Greer, so I am, maybe i'll see you around in my 987.2 CS

Actually just finished an oil change, spark plug change and wrapped the coil covers in heat foil in prep of a mtn drive this weekend up the backroads to Rosman/the parkway.

Unfortunately forgot to get a photo of them installed, but here they are all wrapped, figured this was a cheap insurance for longevity of coils.

Photo of the Cayman back on the ground....and because who doesnt like garage photos

When I bought my Cayman I had a PPI done on it and the shop reported that there was a decent sized scuff on the underside of my rear bumper.

I just attempted to correct it with a DA polisher and here are the results:

Spoiler

It came out pretty good! Happy with the results!

Installed a new trunk gasket and replaced the anti-squeak strips on both doors. Out of all the little clean-ups I’ve done on my Boxster Spyder, replacing the anti-squeak strips may be the most satisfying. The old ones were just such a visual let down when you opened the doors.

Old and yellowed

Can’t even see the squeak strip but it is there

Ride along the coast, the front and rear new wing definitely gives the car more solid stability at higher speeds. The car always got a lot of attention like any Porsche does, but since installing the rear wing the attention its insane, there are thumbs up everywhere. Funny how many people think its a Carrera.
