Default Recall #AMC0 REPROGRAMMING TCU AND ECU

Got a notice today through Carfax about a recall for my Cayman. It's listed on Carfax as a Manufacturer Safety Recall and the description is "REPROGRAMMING TCU AND ECU."

Went to recall.porsche.com and popped in my VIN and it came back with "There are currently no open recalls for this vehicle."

Obviously, I have to go with the Porsche recall lookup, but I wondered if anybody else has gotten a notice like this and if it has anything to do with the stop sale on 981s and 991s that I read about recently.

wouldn't do it unless you want to kiss your Sports+ good bye.

On the 991 the recall reportedly makes Sport+ more useful on the street, by adopting shift points similar to the those used in the later cars. I look forward to finding out, from somebody else who isn't me, if this is also true for the 981.

As I said in my initial post, Porsche says there's no recall for my car, so I won't be doing this. But I'm guessing the reason Carfax thought there was a recall for my car was that there was a recall announced that affects 2016 Caymans; maybe somebody else on here will get it done and let us know how it goes...

The more time goes by ...the less I trust CarFax.

Got a notification on this one today as well. Confirmed on Porsche.com. If you have Sport+, you're gonna get it.

Waiting for the first Guinea Pig to give it a try and see if it neuters Sport+.

Does anyone know if this affects PDK equipped vehicles only? Manual gearboxes not?

There is another long thread on this. My 2013 Boxster S showed up on the recall list Dec 7th along with the rear axle carrier replacement. My local dealer has the parts, scheduled Dec 28th. I'm concerned how this impacts track performance.

It may be that Cobb will be selling more Cobb AccessPorts with the PDK tuning option.....

Just checked recall.porsche.com and my VIN shows the same DME and TCU recall:

Re-programming DME and transmission control units | AMC0 | Oct 25,2021

How much of a refund can we expect back from Porsche for degrading the performance of the performance Sport Plus package they sold us?

My car shows the recall as well.

Riddle me this. I have a Cobb tune along with the Accessport and I saved my baseline stock tune. Can I just revert back to that if need be? Just for the ECU part, I don't have the TCU tune.

Of course, I plan to avoid ever getting this recall job performed.

I see no reason why you can't revert back to the original ECU tune with your backup OEM baseline tune. I sold my Cobb AP but I still have my baseline OEM ECU file, and my BGB Pro Tune files also.

I too plan to never have this recall performed. Have no plans to ever sell the car either.

Well you can declare me the first fool who had this recall performed. I went to local dealer for a “ complimentary inspection” and they decided to throw in the recall. What the reprograming does basically is remove your sport plus switch. Now there is very little difference between the two modes. Sports plus used to be a rush, now nothing. Very disappointing. Fortunately my independent Porsche mechanic will restore my original factory settings next week. Avoid this recall.
