About gas mileage: - yes, assuming you can stay out of the fun factor all of the time, your MPG will go up (like cruise control set on the interstate). But, its so fun to romp on it, thats usually all that everyone does and the MPG follows down.

Yes - the right air filter came in. I have a delay, gotta get the 928 SC ready for Elkhart Lake, running at Road America this Saturday and Sunday to tune the suspension for Pikes Peak. Little will get done on the 968 till Tuesday now.

This is the car I am driving:

This is really interesting and I'm lurking and hoping the 968 SC kit comes off great. Also, hoping that Carl does good (again!) in the Pike's Peak race. Carl's living the dream!

Just came back from the first drive on the 968 SC. We had air/fuel gauge and vacuum/boost gauge in the car, and two of us went out to long rural road with hill.

We had a "base tune" in it that must've been close - it fueled pretty well, then with only one stop to adjust the FMU a little more, we had enough fuel to bounce off the rev limiter. Pulls hard and strong.

Some particulars: gauges showed about 1 PSI of boost at 2,000 rpm. Boost climbed very quickly and we had 6 psi at 4500 rpm and held that to redline. Coolant temperature gauge remained steady at the stock spot, not problem. Alternator charging normally also. Engine idles normally right where it was before supercharging.

We did about 10 "pulls" on the hill in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gears. The system was able to fuel to redline in each gear without a problem. Never went lean. The boost was very driveable because it was always "in" after 2,000 rpm. It was just a quiet steady push into the seat throughout the whole powerband. The only thing you could barely hear was a gentle whistle fromt he supercharger. Not bad at all.

I am scheduling time at the dyno now to get you some numbers.

If you can, can you record a few dyno pulls? I'd like to hear what it sounds like

Carl,

Have you come up with a target price on the system?

Carl has far better knowledge and fab skills than I do, so it's better that he did this. Also, I am a HUGE fan of supporting those who take the initiative to build items (kits) like this for the community.

again, my hat is off to Carl for the hard work.
I just want to drive the car without squirming for more acceleration. The 968 engine sucks at low end torque and to me that's the thing I want added most, and I know the centrifugal SC isn't the absolute best for low-end torque so I'm not head over heels. But I'm still eager to see the results and I'm sure it will add to the low-end as well as the top.

I don't want a certain number. The 190E I just bought has 158 hp but the torque peaks very early (6-cyl) and the car feels faster driving around the city than my 968. If only someone made a kit to add on 2 more cylinders.........

A SC'ed 968 with over 300hp would rival new cars in the same class, and it looks better to boot! Pat on the back, Carl.

Looks like a very interesting setup.
Will you monitor/listen for knock on the dyno?

i would be interested on a kit to try on my road/track 968.
i am always looking for more HP as the present 270 BHP( With larger throttle, 7700rt chips/KN FILTER
amd 3 inch straight through exhaust system).
the supercharger kit looks good ,and depending on the costs ,looks right.

I will record the pulls so you can hear what it sounds like.

We have been watching for knock events and have heard none - and I will be listening for them on the dyno you can be sure.

You are benefited in the fact that your 968 has an excellent knock-sensor/feedback loop with active retards when it hears a knock event. I dont think we will have any if we fuel correctly - but just the same its nice to know its there.
