Nice looking result !!
I use this , easy to braze aluminium/aluminium or with other metal (only need around 250°)...

TIG is the best way to go, but no so "easy" ;-)

Thats right, Tig is best, especially on a structural joint but the equipment cost is quite high for even a half decent rig. These rods give a more than adequate join for this kind of stuff. Hmmm I'm not convinced by the material you linked to. Thats a very different composition. Given its 80% lead and only requires 250c it's not going to be a particularly strong join.

Talking about TIG welders, I saw this unit on Saturday -->

SIP AC/DC TIG P214HF

...a mate of my welder mate Pete bought one last week, and dropped into Petes shop for some getting-started tips. Even Pete was complimentary about it, seeing potential for them to use it as a portable rig for light duty one site work (its an air cooled torch, 200A @60% duty)...it certainly produced some very nice joints when Pete and his son gave it a go. Single phase for £850'ish plus a couple of hundred quid to buy an argon bottle and regulator (no need to perpetually rent a bottle from BOC these days apparently).

Hopping onto the MIG Welder UK forums will reveal a few brands other than SIP as being the ones they'd choose, but then we're talking £2.5-3k for an equivalent setup...undoubtably "better" if you're using it professionally, but for a good rig for hobby welding, this looks to be a good shout....guess what gadget's coming next...?

I'd struggle to justify circa all up 1K on a Tig rig that would take up more garage space and only be used once/twice a year. I've already got a SIP Mig in there. Maybe once we've finally moved out of London. Anyway, why do I need it? If you're getting one I'll just drop my bits round to you - Simples

So this happened I wanted to sort out the fuel return line and a few other bits and pieces to cleanup the bay.

Made up a bracket and short hose to run from the return port of the regulator back to the return line.

Fuel rails powder coated black.

Fitted my plenum halves. I cut and ground off all the casting marks, lobes and brackets etc that aren't required anymore. They were then shot blasted and powder coated in semi gloss. It gives a nice finish.

I plan to do the same with the centre throttle section. Clean it all up and relocate all the stuff from the top, behind. Then powder coat it semi gloss black. I bought a whole plenum unit off ebay so that my car wouldn't be off the road for any time. The center section will require a lot more work tho. A few technical issues to resolve in doing this. Slowly getting a 964 engine bay to look nice

That's cleaner and looks better than a Singer engine bay.

Hi Rob,

Absolutely amazing! The dizzy is stunning!

I thought my engine bay was quite clean but this is a different ball game altogether!

Cheers,
Paul

Friggin' love the makeover of the engine compartment. Did you build a new harness for the injectors or was that part of the engine management upgrade?

Hi Vandit, I built an entire custom engine loom, all sensors and drivers right back to the ECU. There is now just one single deutche Motorsport connector used to join engine to car
There are a few pictures a few pages back but I didn't go into much about it since not many (excluding myself) will find looms sexy
