Longhood Friday: 964 backdates and other retro ideas

I hate 964 engine lid props... they just suck. This is much better.

Jetta,
Any idea where props like that are sold? That's one small lightweight upgrade I'd like to make. The wood stick I use isn't as elegant.

Drop them an email and ask.

but remember that they're running a lightweight decklid, so a little prop like that might not support the OE lid w/ the retractable wing, or possibly twist it since it would only support one side of the heavy piece.

Maybe a modified version of the Rothsport Hood Prop would work?

From the new issue of GT Porsche World:
Backdated 911s are nothing new, but many follow a familiar formula. This 964 Targa, however, is not only original in concept it's also totally unique.

That targa looks really bad. Not because it is a targa but just the way it is done. The proportions are way off on this one.
Singer sets the standard and makes most other backdates look like crap I guess.

I use the factory RS/RSR hood prop on my fiberglass trunk lid. The fiberglass also flexes/twists.

I actually like the Targa, he has a singer like shifter in it, and overall its a fairly nice build. They even molded the rear spoiler to look Singer-esqe. The main killing point for me is just the front bumper, to me it just makes it look like a boat or a bloated whale. I prefer the slimmer bumper options.
