nice post!

tempted by the front bumper too .. at least there'd be now more frown!
Running at RS or lower means its hard to avoid incurring the frown during spirited drives

Their site says it requires the front wings and bonnet as well, so not just a bolt on front and back....

Interesting, although isn't the steering column hardened steel?

If so welding it would ruin the temper I would be a bit concerned making a change like this without at a minimum having the welds x-ray inspected to verify proper joining of the material. Imagine if the weld broke while driving at speed?

Looks like Colin at Ninemeister is building a 964 ST rep?!!

Hope we see an RL thread soon...

9m64ST 001
A photo build diary of the first 9m64ST- a 9m car based on a 964 converted the "9m way" to 1971 long bonnet style with all steel ST arches.

While not a backdate in the traditional sense this one is getting a few period clues.

...and since I still cannot figure out how to post more than one image at a time from my iPad. Another angle.

Are semi backdates going to last?

IMO, it's either full backdate or keep it 'period correct'.

A full backdate, PS Autoart, DP Motorsport and singer - I can see it sticking.

But in a few years time will people be putting 964s back to being period correct. Soon they'll have the same caché as long noses and all of sudden these fuch wheels/ ducktails might look out of place?

I would also add PS Automobile of Germany to that list, I love the fact that they have gone down the ST route as opposed to the RS.

In most cases it is about how well something is done as well, as what is done. A poorly executed project will not pass the test of time.
Even manufacturers have been employing retro cues to their products, was this a reaction to enthusiast trends or original thinking?
Full backdates are hard to bring back to original while bolt on bits can easily be replaced with the original parts.
Personally as someone who already has 4 longhoods I would not backdate a 964, or any other mid-year. I do understand why people do and support their choice. It is after all their car and their vision.
I feel all generations have their following and what is viewed as sacrilege by some is expression of their passion by others. Why is this any different than RS/ST/RSR tributes on longhoods?
From a purely economic perspective original cars make the most sense. But then few will argue that we buy these cars for their economics.

If you go to www.Zuffenhaus.us and select the blog tab then search the 964 tag and the backdate tag you will find oil line backdate and jack point backdate info.

And welcome to the forum.

thanks! we're relocating them to the '72 location toward the rear of the fender well to get rid of the visual clutter under the oil tank.
