Here's something I found interesting when comparing mine and Oldtimer's videos above. This is a screen shot of me just past the apex of Shell hairpin:

and here's John at the same place:

These show that I've turned the wheel quite a bit more than he does. The same happens in all the other slow corners (Knickerbrook and lodge). I always feel that I get a lot of understeer through those corners. Maybe it's me creating it by giving it too much steering and not enough throttle?

Looks to me that you have less lock but a different hand position? Hard to compare static video grabs tbh as either of you could have grabbed/eased lock depending on how the car was feeling right then and there.

Seems odd to me that 964's are the opposite to IB's in terms of camber. IB's have + 0.5 to 1.0 degree more negative on the rear compared to fronts whereas 964's are the other away round prettymuch, whats yr current settings?

I keep hands on the wheel and cross my arms while Oldtimer has moved hand position in the turn. However, you can see that bottom spoke of the wheel is at 9 o'clock for him and it's between 10 and 11 for me i.e. more lock applied to mine.

Cambers on mine are set at -1 both front and rear (same as RS specs). Don't know what Oldtimer's is set at.

I would guess the two cars run very different roll bars Steve which could help explain it.

Maybe uprated roll bar will help steve?
H&R made a world of difference to mine.

Steve - looking at the 2 shots , apart from the position of the steering wheel , I think my car is tighter on the apex by a couple of feet in lateral direction judging by the chequer strip position in the windscreen.
The cars appear to be about same postion longitudinal direction judging by the landscape ( tree ) position in the windscreen ....so I think we took different lines to get to this point. For proof would need to forensically examine both vids - two screens needed !

In terms of set up , my car's camber on fronts is -2.07 deg , the camber on rears is -1.47 deg , so 20 secs more neg camber on front .

For comparison RS standard is -1 deg front and -1 deg 15 sec rear.

My car has 964RS ARBs front and back , in a previous set up it had H&R kit , 24mm F and 26mm R , but these were replaced by previous owner .

Requires a proper pub based discussion

Just booked another day at Oulton Park. A few of us will be there on Wed 25th June. It's with Motorsport vision (track owners) and I've arranged a 10% discount with them if we get 5 or more (full price is £229). To get the discount you need to phone your booking to MSV on 0843 453 3000 and quote '964 track club'. So far we have me, Kevin and Talat that are doing it.

Steve, Oulton Park too far for me .. Any plans for any of the more southern tracks this year?

I'm up for the odd track day too. Got 2nd June @ Bedford with a 944 crowd booked and am considering Sat 19th July @Bedford again. Would like to revisit Donington and Snetterton is fun too.

So far I've got:

Sat May 17, Anglesey, PCGB
Wed June 25, Oulton, MSV
Mon 14 July, Spa, Bookatrack
Wed 16 July, Zandvoort, Bookatrack

After that I'll likely do a day at Castle Combe with PCGB. I can't get any discounts for those days. The members rate for CC is £250 but gives you low numbers and a 105 db noise limit (normal days are 100 db which is touch and go for a 964).

I'd like to do Donington later too. The majority of the trackdays are run by Bookatrack who we've always used in the past and got a discount. However, they're being very tight when it comes to discounts this year and I think the full price of £295 is a bit steep. I think the best I could do is get some free garages and there's no weekend days until October. An alternative would be to book the RMA day on Friday 10 October which is currently £225 (but will go up as more people book).

BTW Oulton is well worth the trip and stop over
