The starter motor issue sounds a bit of a downer, I can be sympathetic to a point, I make my share of bad estimates at work at work and the opc price for a starter is shocking. But the petulant reaction they gave when you challenged them is very poor. Glad GtOne came through especially as i need my starter doing, normally I'd do it myself but for that money I'll drop it down to them instead

But just to clarify the 'petulant reaction' and outrageous price came from my local Porsche Specialist not the OPC.
Also I'm sure Craig would look after you well, but he would probably charge the £66 p/h labour. I think he was just especially kind to not charge me labour because of all my trouble pre track day. Either way at least you know they're honest and reasonably priced!

Specialised car covers
As some of you may know my car sleeps under the stars on the drive, no heated garage with a beer fridge here! So I recently invested in a car cover/ blanket ( pre Donington disaster £££ *%!!&!ç! ) , an all singing and dancing one.
That is to say, UV proof, completely rain proof, that breathes, has a soft lining, etc !
It was a moment of insanity when I ordered it, it's bespoke, hand made and therefore took three weeks from order to delivery. Obviously it cost me a small fortune but being on the phone with the sales lady ( who had a very sexy voice might I add ) I got caught in the moment. I'm embarrassed to admit how much, so I'll just say less than £ 300 and more than £ 250
In hindsight I'm glad I did it. Leaving the car to rust under the rain is just daft, especially when it costs more than this expensive car cover to repair rust issues and all the sorrows associated with time apart.
I wonder if my car loves me as much as I love it ?

Cheers, btw I'm sorry I didn't think of this earlier ( I'm sure you're all booked up by now ) but if you wanted to hitch a ride on Sunday let me know! Can't guarantee it would be very comfortable but I would be offended if you'd rather hitch a ride in Darren's glorious open top!
Unfortunately, I am now committed to doing a family bike ride tomorrow!

Clutch Roll Pin Fix
So with new clutch, flywheel and engine mounts the clutch still had limited travel.
After using the search button I had found an easy DIY, that suggested it could be a roll pin issue within the clutch assembly.
With the roll pin out I could see it was in bad shape, It's design seemed flawed and I couldn't wait for the a replacement to arrive.
So I fabricated my own Bought a screw with a smooth shoulder, cut off the thread, smoothed off the end using my angle grinder ( that now needs a new blade ). I wish I had a proper garage! Lacking a vice I resulted to using a gap in brick work on my drive to lodge the screw and thick gloves ( It got hot ) to hold it while smoothing off edges.
I used a glass of water with ice to cool down the new pin as I shaped it.
The whole job was supposed to take a couple of hours this morning... I'm now behind on my work
But the clutch is a lot better now

Car looking good on track Frank.....last time I was at Castle Coomb was in 1999, hired it for my stag doo and spent the day pounding round with a load of mates on a private day...what a blast...and that was before they put in the chicanes I hear they've now got........
