Frustratingly we're still waiting on many of the key parts to arrive for the suspension, so in the meantime Marc has organised the last of the jobs for painting, as here with the rear reflector panel.

The initial intention with the rear reflector was to completely paint out the panel and add the Porsche script across the width, however with a bit of crafty masking we managed to cover the inbuilt reflector lenses before shooting the panel with mid blue primer. Two coats of Gulf Blue base coat followed, then using a vinyl negative Marc overlaid the Porsche script in pearl orange. Once dry the lenses were demasked and the whole piece lacquered over.

The second photo is the part waiting on the another coat of clear lacquer after flatting off the first to level out the height of the lettering.

on a car like this, why KW V3 instead of, say, a JRZ RS or RS Pro?

It's not V3. It's a special order KW RS Clubsport set in a V3 box......

Besides being compatible with the 993 uprights, what differentiates this set from an off the shelf Club Sport setup?

Is there a difference between the normal C2 Club Sport kit and the RS Club Sport kit? Can an RS Club Sport kit be bolted straight onto a normal C2?

Glad to say that we're rolling again now that the new parts are arriving at the shop. Work started at the front end, Mark soon fitted the rack, crossmember and lower a-arms. Look carefully and you may also spot the main power lead and 4 channel ABS brake lines in place as well.

Is that an electric pump to the steering rack?

Thomas,
What you see underneath are the hydraulics of the standard power rack but you are correct that we are planning to use an electro-hydraulic PS system due to cavitation problems with the standard engine mounted pump at high rpm/acceleration rates. We are considering an all electric system as well, but to be honest the cost to custom code the control system is pushing us towards the GT3 Cup E-H system.

Colin, if interested you can give these guys a call:

http://www.revisieshop.nl/woodward-c-154.html

They're very experienced at power steering and supply a lot of custom motorsport applications. The owner drives a 930 which he has converted to electric power steering....

Thanks Harald, for this build we are using the previously proven E-H system but I will definitely look into other options for future jobs.

I subscribed to this thread last night and spent 2+ hours reading it from beginning to end. As a TV Producer whose worked for SpeedVision (before it became NascarTV...oops, I mean SpeedTV) I saw this whole beautiful build unfolding like a show as some of you have suggested. Unfortunately the production schedules of TV typically wouldn't allow for the type of meticulous, high-quality work that 9M is doing. That's why we see "fabricators" on those shows with fake "deadlines" since they have to crank-out those God-awful cars on those God-awful shows.

I see now why crack junkies need their fix... It must feel the same way as not getting those fantastic pictures & explanations from Colin and the gang...

Keep up the great work!
