OK, I'm back from vacation all refreshed and ready to bring you all back up to speed.

We've pretty much got to the stage where the car is ready for wiring, however we're not going to fit the standard Porsche loom: the plan is to manufacture a new bespoke lightweight loom and use discreet power distribution modules in the front & rear. Ordinarily with a job like this we would happily undertake the work ourselves, however because we're developing a new ecu as part of the 9m GT3 performance programme we have decided to use an evolution of this ecu to run the aircooled 9m Race engine destined for the back of this car. Since the package is cutting edge and way beyond conventional electronic systems our engineering partner is going to be calling the shots.

As a result that leaves us with the job of finishing off the mechanicals, so the boys in Panelcraft have been busy painting all the suspension & minor components ready for assembly. The 964RS calipers have obviously been refinished in Pearl Gulf Orange & the engine support frame has been reinforced around the mounting bosses before painting.

Work continues on preparing the parts as & when we can. Here are the rear trailing arms, freshly painted and with new wheel bearings fitted:

I am curious -
Why did you paint the aluminium (British spelling for you ) parts? Is there some benefit?

Thank you for sharing the progress.

Cheers,
Scped

The reason for painting is purely for presentation & to keep the parts from oxidising later in the cars life. We're using Lechler Isocryl, which is the nearest equivalent to a spray enamel.
