Hi Rodders,

Did you observe the orientation when you installed the chip? If you put it in the wrong way round, positive voltage will then be applied to the wrong pins and the image will get partially erased.

If it has become damaged, just send ti back to me and I'll get it reburned for you - no charge.

Sorry to hear you've had such a drama. Should be a 30-45 minutes job tops.

It will be wrth it in the end :-)

Regards,
Andrew

Thanks Andrew - i am having the ECU fixed via Jon - trip orientation was fine - I had my work checked by my friendly workshop who came over with the Hammer and checked everything and checked the old chip as well
I will let you know the result.
i have had to buy a spare - i promised my car to my daughter and son-in law - its her birthday!
The car is running fine - i have put it down to ' one of those things ' at this stage

i will probably try to sell one of the spare - or not - it may be useful for back to back testing
Life is too short to get bitter and twisted - i should have it in by next week end - and then we will SEE !
thanks for the offer and the support - all down to my left handed screwdriver syndrome
Sunday morning jobs always go wrong - or at least mine seem to
i have learned a lot !
Now I want to drive

Hi Kris
Those were the days - but when was that photo taken - when we had her she had orange coach lines etc
maybe my brother-in-law changed her on the last major
All my shots are on film but I do have some fun shots I will search out and try to scan - nice ones of the last Boscomb F4 doing barrel rolls over us - super cool
TBK 373 still carries a scar on the head lining when I loaded the Plane stands !!! and met G-LEAR at Exeter and then went off to Santiago del Compestella to rendez vous with the Dutch Navy on the way to the Gulf War - the first one - we then took a major lightening stick on the nose - I was looking back in the turn and saw 10.000 ft of cable explode - I thought we had taken a shell thro an engine!!
Did I get pissed that night
we needed the stands incase we had to take off the winch
Sorry to go so far off thread but ......a very emotive picture - we bought that plane new and kept her for many many years longer than my car and that is 16 already
Thanks for the pic

Kris - and at various Farnborough Airshows with all the kit displayed - and the girls watching the show perched on the engines - and with the earlier TBK 373 - a red SC parked on the runway next to G-LEAR..... you have got me going now .. sorry folks
It will be ages before I find the photos but they will appear i promise

Hiya Rodders
You get to / fly / play with / work with G-LEAR type stuf ?
My hair has just turned bright flaming green !

"10.000 ft of cable explode"
Where was this cable ? Were you towing it behind you ?

A bad chip can kill a computer . Be carefull of reuseing this chip . Just cause the check sum is ok , doesn't prove that the chips outputs on all legs are ok .

Happy birthday !!

Thanks for the advice on the chip - I will not reuse - this week has been too much of a bore !
- I also lost the old Sporto on routine maintenance at the same time, so my school run has become a walk up and down the Kings Rd twice a day - could get a cab or a bus but flagellation seemed the order of the day
The two 911's are the only cars we run othr than an older daughters Smart Car Cab and a VW GTI = stolen last week - not a good vehicular week for the RBW family.

- the G-LEAR thing = big boys video games but in real time - we had a semi family business ( no longer ) and I went back to run the military training side - did a lot with Phoenix Air ( near Atlanta )
Nato, various Airforces and Navies
I had a military background so security was no problem.
On the end of the cable was a Hayes Target - replicating an Excocet low level missile - we were being shot at by a Goalkeeper - 6000 rounds of 100mm a minute ! ( as I remember )
We survived the target never did
They did once shoot down a Japanese Lear but with a Phalanx system
.. sorry off thread again forgive me

the aircraft was owned by Northern Executive Aviation - my bit was called Flight Operations Ltd
- after I went on my own they sold it and it is now in the Middle East - in the military training role with the Emirates - but this may have changed again ??

yes indeed - the unit is now away and will be thoroughly tested as will the two chips - the chips were correctly installed but the death occurred after the new chip was installed.
I took great care over the whole thing - i do accept that it is a quick job ( now I know how to do it )
- I took care and asked the questions and rushed nothing - thats why I am a bit p----d off
- I anticipate old age and dry joints being woken up
But we will see and I will report back
- any way my kids now have the keys so if any one sees them on the way from London to Cornwall at 07.00 tomorrow give them a wave
the green car is back MOT'd, new parking permit and new steering column bearings
so I am mobile
if any one is on the 10.00 to London to Exeter to watch Harlequins play rugby - i am the one with the 8 year old boy and a haggard look - spare a dime !
