I hadn’t been paying much attention to 964 C2 Coupe prices until a friend of mine noted that he might want to trade his 964 Targa for a Coupe. He told me that there wasn’t much out there and he was throwing some relatively high numbers out. When I did a search for a Manual C2 Coupe I was shocked at how few popped up. Take out White/Red/Black and your left with a handful all are priced above $150k.
As for the new Porsche’s, as most here already have eluded you just can’t enjoy there full capabilities on the street. So your either buying it for the track or street cred as they’re not that exciting to drive at even 40% above posted limits.
This podcast has an interesting perspective on both the White Collection Auction and the prices of cars.
Basically, their point is that they've seen as the demographics change (i.e. bringing in younger buyers), newer model cars start getting more attention and
right now in the Porsche world, that's the late-80s to 2016 era cars. The white auction results are relevant, and the theory also explains why 964s in general
having been pricing higher and higher the last 5 years. They also talk about how the 997 series is pricing up as well.

Like everyone talking about this topic - there is some truth and some very biased "facts" lol.
I love these guys with money parroting what we have been saying for decades and putting their little twist on the facts. Nothing new was said and they should do their research on quantities made instead of spreading the wrong info and using x number thereabouts. LOL
Seems everyone is an expert all of a sudden.

According to the info I have only 49 3.8RSR's were made 48 were LHD with 1 RHD, Yellow was a very popular color. The white collection RSR was the last of the RSR's based on Vin numbers. I would love either the one of one Cobalt blue or the one of one maritime blue 3.8 RS's. The 3.8RS will always be my all time favorite.
EDIT: It wouldn't pull up the ad before but I see it is an RS. So it is vin 078 initially imported to Tokyo Japan through Mizwa. They have it listed as a 3.6 with 247HP. I highly doubt they will get their asking based on the white collection RSR price and miles. Maybe in another year but not now. Good time to buy not sell. It also has bolt plugs for harnesses so I suspect the car isn't as clean as the miles indicate.
Did anyone pick up on the CofA stating drivers and passenger Airbags??? The car wasn't equipped with airbags but did have the reduced radio install.
There is a rubystone being exported from Japan as I understand.

The numbers I was able to find was 51 total RSR’s including the prototypes (believe there was only 1 though). No doubt the car had harnesses in it as the clear evidence you stated. Majority were probably used on track so if it’s in good condition with no signs of heavy usage there then it would not be worth passing up on for the right price. From the photos provided difficult to say would need to see better photos or see it in person. When I was buying my US Cup even though Ray Joseph took good photos and has an impeccable reputation I wanted to see the car in person before the deal was finalized as I know a majority of these cars were modded into full Cup cars, heavily track (some raced in different series’), and some were damaged/crashed. For any 964 I would try to see the car in person (have at least a trusted set of eyes see it) as a lot were neglected and not cared for properly which means there are some pretty dodgy examples out there. Some sellers are not very transparent about it. One of the reasons I would preferably not buy one off BaT (or a lot of online auctions) as sellers sometimes aren’t honest and it’s difficult to see the car in person before the auction ends.
I believe the one RSR you are thinking of is the one built by my late friend Dr. Art Pilla. He purchased the last and only RSR shell in white built it and raced it successfully. The following year the car was cut up and converted to look like a 993 to meet racing rules at the time. I was offered that car a number of years ago for pennies and passed on it. AFAIK the prototype no longer exists so there should be:
55 RS's 52 LHD & 3 RHD W/ one pre production built on a C2 frame
49 RSR's 48 LHD & 1 RHD, W/ 1 prototype and the white tub built by Art.
I know where the car built by Art is today and I don't think it would qualify but maybe it does.
I was thinking this was this car which was very nice. Although this one had the WB mud flaps installed and can't tell if the one on cargurus has them. These did not come on the RS's AFAIK.
I noticed the white/red RSR 3.8 that sold from the white collection didn't have a US title. So I guess that means you would have to get the car titled to register it for road use in the US (likely the new owner won't do just keep it in a bubble)? Doesn't look like an easy car to get registered in this country.

You probably have more experience (or know someone who does) with importing RoW cars under the 25 year rule. Not aware how flexible that rule is for registering race cars that were road legal under some very loose regulations elsewhere. This RSR doesn't look like something I would wanna drive around in on the street. Those roll bars and harnesses are probably uncomfortable and dangerous on the street. Don't thing the leather on the roll bars would provide much cushion if you were to hit your head on it which if an accident occurred would be a possibility.

Widebody in some great colors. I didn’t realize there were any cabriolet widebody 964s from the factory. Not sure where this will end up given the tiptronic, but a nice looking car.
