LOL no worries, your not a jerk! you can only install the shifter with the angle back towards the rear of the car, if you have it reversed the shift rod from the transmission will not be able to connect as the "half moon" receiver on the shifter as it will be facing the wrong way. There is really no way anyone can install this shifter wrong... it will only work one way. If you watch their installation video posted it will make sense.
Ha, duh - don’t know why that didn’t occur to me. I hope you get it resolved!

Interesting. I just pulled mine out of the box, and something seems amiss with the receiver. In the installation video the half moon faces toward to rear of the car. See the photo below. But the receiver on my shifter appears to be facing the other way. Is it possible this was installed improperly?
Install video has half moon facing toward rear of car. With shifter angled toward rear, my half moon is facing forward? Could this be the problem??

Hmm. Mine was properly oriented out of the box. Certainly seems like this could be it. Shifter should angle toward the rear, as should the half moon at the bottom.
Hope they didn’t use red loctite on that pivot point so you can easily reverse it.
Well thanks to michaeljdunn, looks like you saved me from a disastrous install. It doesn’t sound like you have the same problem if your shifter is correctly oriented tilting aft. But you certainly saved me from an installation failure. I doubt I would have recognized the problem until I unbuttoned the bottom and realized the half moon was oriented backwards. Doh. Hope you get your problem sorted.
Foxman—Are you calling the cut out at the bottom—that connects to the shift rod/golden rod? If so, yours is backwards compared to the installation shot. It looks like an easy fix to disassemble and orient it correctly.
Looks like NR needs to work on QA. Glad to see this problem coming out early before more people have installation problems like mjdunn.

Yes this one in particular was assembled backwards on accident. We did use Red Loctite on that bolt so we can Next Day Air out another one to you that is assembled correctly.
How about vibration transmitted from the trans? Do you feel it thru the shift lever? I assume the OEM **** will absorb some but for those looking to use the reboot with wooden ****, how much vibration and noise will be transmitted into the cabin.
So I have not experience any vibration so far or added noise from the shifter itself. I have driven about 350 miles on it now and adding more. I do not have the Golden rod installed though. I plan on adding the wooden shifter as well and reboot kit.

I received mine today and it's assembled correctly. It looks very nice and robust. I'm probably some weeks, or longer, from installation--but I'll give a report when I have it in and use it.
Easy five minute fix Paolo1. The red loctite was minimal on mine. With a heat gun set at 500 degrees for 3 minutes it loosened right up. You just need a 5 mm hex and a 2.5mm torx bit.
I envy all the folks with skills, time, and room to work on their toys which I don't posses or have so I sent the car to Apex Autowerks in North Jersey to have it installed and some miscellaneous stuff (AG battery, alignment to Cup specs, oil change, etc...). They have a race to manage this weekend so I should pick the car back next week (90 miles) and report the experience. The current setting is fine and I'm thinking the Numeric Short Throw system/Goldenrod will complement the Cup's factory short gearing.
The 15mm bolt that goes thru the golden rod to half moon won’t line up. It would appear that the half moon is making contact w/the side welds of the GR. Has anyone run into this problem? Is the solution to file down the welds a bit? Sucks to have to grind off the nice powder coating.

I won’t need to file off much (wouldn’t want to weaken the welds), just don’t want to strip it (aluminum).
The OEM rod fits perfectly into the half moon by comparison. Funny that Numeric sells the GR on there website, fitment shouldn’t be an issue….
