In any system there is always the weakest link. What is the weakest link on a 951 engine? Head gasket, rods, rod/crank bearings, flexi-block?

The weakest link on my 948 is the transaxle. It will really be weak soon enough when my procharger is mounted.

Well, I would agree that, as a garage ornament, there's nothing quite like a dyno queen with a broken tranny

I would argue that the weakest link in a 951 or any car hobby for that matter, would be how much you wanna spend to go be able to go faster.

Amen. I'm actually more afraid of blowing the clutch again. The only car maintenance where you need to take a week's vacation to do the job lol. Gets me thinking about a mid-engine 948 again....no TT would be sweet.

That would be one sick ride- a TT LS7 or something...definitely will need a good clutch for this application. Has anyone does this before successfully on the 944/951 platform?

Got it.
Hardly, but I've owned a few 944's and been around enough others to know they are NOT and never will be big power cars. Does it really matter though? OP would have to be making big power(in 944 terms) AND be on full tilt in order to run with him and he just wasn't. Perhaps that I'm saying all of this now without a 944 people are getting defensive? I can go back and find multiple other threads where I was calling BS on some guy who thinks it's greatest gift. The damn thing is a legitimate track terror and limiting the cars performance to even straight line speed comparisons between the 944 it still decimates. There are a couple not as in dozens and dozens of modded 944's, but rather a couple of 944's in this entire community that could beat a stock GT and even then again we are talking about 1 single aspect of the car. It's a silly comparison because the money, research and development, and capabilities of each car are soooo different and yes the guys story is just as silly.

You know you can appreciate a car and also accept certain realities or that in certain aspects it won't be xyz. It doesn't mean you don't love the car it just means your honest about what it can and can't do. I guess the question you have to ask yourself is why does it matter that his car doesn't have and never will have the same level of performance a F.GT does? Does it have to in order for you to still love it the same? If not then just keep it neutral and don't get caught up in brand or car loyalist hype. I invited him to take his car to the track how about I put up or shut up?

For his story to be remotely true he'd had to be trapping well above and beyond what a stock F.GT does, but I won't even go that far. If he can show a dyno of 380 and then hit the track with a camera and post a 125mph trap speed(something in the same neighborhood of a stock one) I'll paypal him $100 and I will have a T-shirt made that states that I'm an idiot for have ever doubting him. I'll make it a pink one and I'll post pictures for all to see me in public wearing it.

Yes a mid engine 948 has been done, but I believe it was carbed. And I doubt it had traction issues if it was dragged.

In my mind and many others on here who you find your comments a tad out of touch with reality- you are already wearing a pink shirt. And you can keep your benjamin and put it towards your 968 project.

Have no interest in doing a 968 project right now. I made a thread giving you the opportunity to not only shut me up, but also make some money while doing it.

I encourage you to help me keep it entertaining for the rest of us...freedom of speech. I am not going to stoop that low for your challenge- that's just childish and trivial to me. I know what I have. It was never about the money, as you stated previously, so why bring money onto the table? You are too funny John.

When I have posted similar simulations there was always someone scolding me...I'm shocked! I guess cause this one took such a turn.
