2005 Ford GT40 vs. 1988 951S

I can 100% confirm, without a doubt you can make exponentially more power, with ten fold more reliability for exponentially less $$$$.
I am into a low mile 640RWHP Z06 for slightly more $$ than I had in a far less reliable 350RWHP 951.
Love the 951 - but if you really are after serious HP , 4 cyl Porsche is not the economical platform to work with in general.

When I bought my 951 (a long time ago) the only vette that I could purchase (money wise) was a C4 or C3. C3s were (and still are) disgusting. The C4s I drove rode like crap, rattled, weren't as fast as the 951 and didnt drive well. Add to that that the vette crowd looked to me like an old version of the IROC crowd, and I couldn't get into vettes.
But the c5 and c6 really upped the ante on what a vette could be. Yes, the c5 still used interior components from fisher price (or a chevy cavalier) but they are a decent performer and can be made wicked fast for not so much money.
Anyways, I should probably quit rambling. I am getting the itch to build something fast that would just sit in the garage...it will pass.

My only contention is posting up a "kill-like" story about a car you have zero knowledge of(modified?,not?), driven by a guy you have never met or talked to, while in traffic no less , and you arrive at a conclusion about your car's performance compared to what exactly????.

Of course it's absurd that's a given
But modding cars has never been about making sense! I'm running around with Adjustable coil over camber plates and adjustable sway bars, and tires good to 186mph. I don't track the car got it aliened and have never touched any of that stuff!
I just "feel" that my 951 "needed " that stuff! It makes me "feel good" on my 12 miles to the grocery store! The 2.5 Turbo is the soul of the 951, and a big bore 3L takes care of the off boost low rpm performance of that platform. Some of us just like the challenge!
I don't throw stones at the LSX, swap guys cause most of them love the car and have just had enough of the crap!
Some of us just like the challenge of building a high HP 4! You build a 500+ hp 951
and you've done something!
Any idiot with a set of Craftsman tools, a check book and a Summit cataloger can build a 500+++++ hp- LSX!
Whole thread has gotten off track cause some A hole comes in with his two cents! Sure detuned 380 hp 3L but how much torque?
If it makes the whiners feel better rest assured that a "stock" Ford GT would have no problems with my 951 if I tried to roll on it at 5th gear at legal speeds!
Oh yeah and the 8 sec GTR? I notice it's on a trailer...just saying!

I just never liked the "corvette crowd."
