The sensor is there to tell the pump to start up AGAIN if the temperature rises too much AFTER it's completed its first run/stop cycle.

So, when the car shuts off, the pump runs for... 30-seconds to a minute, whatever the time is (can be lengthened by changing one capacitor inside the 'relay' next to the 555 timer IC) then -providing that the temperature sensor says things aren't too high- it shuts off.

If the temperature subsequently climbs TOO MUCH after the coolant circulation ceases, the relay kicks back on, to cycle some more (cooler) liquid through. -When the temperature sensor drops below the threshold temperature, the timer in the relay then carries on for the prescribed 'delay' period, then shuts off again.

It's kinda "rinse and repeat" (almost literally!) until the temperature no longer crosses the threshold.

Great info, thanks!! Do you know what capacitor values can be used to alter the timer duration? Mine runs for about 30 seconds, but I'd love to crank it up to 1 or 2 minutes...

Edit: I just searched and found your thread on this, thanks for the help!

Now that she's back on the road again, window tint was mandatory:

Car looks awesome Matt. Can't wait to see dyno results. Any ideas of what you'll put down?

I'm no good at guessing... 325... 350? I have no idea, but I may switch to E85 this weekend to see how much fun that is. Want to wait for some reasonably cool weather before I strap it down in a hot dyno barn. Yesterday was 101 here, but today was a "cool" 88.

refresh951 has a similar set up on his car with the M Tune and a turbo I think that is equal to the 53 and he put down 337 on e85 a few weeks ago. He posted the dyno chart.

Idle went up about 200 RPM, and I haven't turned up the boost yet. I took it out for a drive after washing it and tried to burn up the rest of the 93 octane in the tank (had a nice chat with a Fort Worth PD officer too!), so on the way home I went ahead and filled up with E85. I'll probably turn up the boost a bit tomorrow and see how she does.
