Didn't feel a slight increase in power running e85?

No, not really, but I'm pretty sure that to feel an increase in power with E85, you've got to crank up the boost. Besides, my butt dyno isn't all that accurate these days . I'm used to riding a 200 horsepower, 550lb motorcycle... everything else is slow once you grow accustomed to that!

I think you're right, Matt. The boost has to be turned up to see the benefits of E85. From my understanding, there's actually less energy by volume in E85 than there is in gasoline, but the octane of E85 is substantially greater. So, basically, E85 lets you turn the boost up and run more aggressive timing because of it's higher octane rating, but, without turning up the boost, there would be little to no difference.

As far as I'm concerned, the butt dyno is far more important than the kind that spits out graphs.

You're making me envious! I can't wait until I can afford a bigger/better turbo, or find E85, or have my car work right...

Congrats, Matt! Enjoy!

aww how cute,

Man your engine bay is so bloody clean,

The other week my little cousin came over, loves his cars... we play GT5 together online sometimes lol. He asked me how much power my car was making. i answered saying somewhere around 270 horsepower at the wheels before i took it apart. Then he asked how about when you're finished, i said i hope its over 350 horsepower at the weeks. so i walked him outside showed him the old turbo and the new turbo and all the go faster bits. what i loved that he was asking questions i asked my dad when i was his age reading car magazines.

My 6 year-old son comes and hangs out with me while I'm working on the car sometimes.... Just endless questions about everything. It's great. I'm not sure how much he understands, but he definitely remembers stuff... just the other day he was telling his mom that he knew what a control arm is... he doesn't know what it does, but he knows what it is. I keep waiting for the day that my daughter shows some interest, but she's pretty obsessed with becoming the next best-selling novelist (she's 9).

That's one cute kid, Matt. Beautiful car also. Garage isn't half-bad either. Life's not so bad, is it?

I was thinking more along the lines of an old Merc 300D

It builds character...

What build character is a 1971 Honda CL350 that breaks down a mile from your house that you have to push back and eventually get a truck to pick you up .5 mile away from your house. Only to find out the damn CV carbs are messed up again.

Get a project so they can understand how to work on cars/motorcycle an engine in general and then the bug will bite trust me. My dad promised me he would let me ride my mom's old 71 Yamaha when I was 13. When I turned 13 I never stopped asking him about it. Eventually he caved from that moment on I was hooked. I always liked cars(Dad always had a 924/944 in the fam) but once I was told you can get you Motorcycle License if you get this bike running. You better believe I spent some serious time getting that going.

Yeah, I was just joking about the Merc... the plan has long been to get them each something cool, but in need... and make them fix it (I'll help, of course). But I see no better way to learn the respect and adoration one should have for their car.
