Why is it the swedes have all the crazy modified cars? This is going to be one hell of a motor.

Very nice Duke,

One question though... considering the amount of boost that can be safely ran with E85 do you feel that it is necessary??

Don't get me wrong, I love the parts that have been chosen, and I'm sure it will make more power overall. However it seems to me that when ran at ~ 25-27 psi, these stockish 2.5's really make plenty of power. Especially for the street.

Is it the need to tinker and create the best, or do you feel shorted with current 2.5 at higher boost?

I ask in all sincerity, and do really appreciate your selection and build.

Street and track are two different worlds. You are not going to run 25psi on gas with a stockish 2.5 at the track (road course) for very long! 25psi with E85 is a much better solution for track use – upping the static compression ratio is even better….

I agree on all points.

Just curious about his thoughts regarding each setup, since he is already running E85 and higher pressure regularly.

Are you running e85 ?

There are some very interesting games you can play with Ethenol. For instance you can add lots of water to it and retune the mixture. Adjust the mixture injection to reflect the correct Ethonol to air ratio ( compensating for the added water) and you have built in water injection. In theory you could run diesel like compression ratios!
Be carefull with that Chris .... PCA does not allow e85 ?

IMHO the best fuel pump on the market. The size about a 044, pretty lightweight, variable speed control, brushless motor, low noise, massive flow (rated at 1300 hp N/A).. High price though.
Duke , the NA bhp ratings will be misleading , what is the max dead headed pressure of the pump and more importantly @ 60 psi min .what HP rating ?

Good question,
I think it will beneficial for all of us to see the differences in spool from a 2.5, 2.8 to 3.0
Dave will be running a 2.5 gt3582r
I will be running a 2.8 gt3582r
Gustaf will be running a 3.0 gt3582r

I am interested in doing a comparison of spool/power characteristics.

Sid you may have missed one of Duke's other recent purchases. A roll cage. So this car's focus will be for the track. I suspect with the higher static c/r he will be able to run lower boost which will be kinder on the motor plus easier to drive around town...well that's just my guess anyway. I'm sure he'll be on here soon.

I just wanted to brag and 1300 hp sounds cool
The pump works fine up to 100 psi and delivers over 530 liters per minute at 60 psi so it's plenty enough.

That's a really good post and a very relevant question.
The car was very fast at higher boost levels with my 2.5l but besides lacking power in the lower rpm range, I ran low boost at the track. This is a street legal car but I primarily use it drive to, on and from the track.

This new engine will have power everywhere and it will lump around with more than enough power at say 0.8 bar. But at the same time I can take it higher every now and then on the highway, no sorry the drag strip, and give me a scary face

Plus the fact that I like to have little projects and optimize stuff
