can you use legally those control arms on street ? At least our regulations forbid all weldings in control arms. We have Charlie arms style billet ones on their way

The control arms are very nice, I'm super happy with the work. I'll post a pic showing the welds before the powder coat. I think they were around $1000 including chrome moly rod ends. The balljoint is tilted to provide a better angle for cars much lower than stock.

Hmm the last update I got regarding your parts did not seem right because I still haven't received them. I'll check again!

I've heard people saying they don't like keeping the Variocam, any reason you have chosen too? Keep the costs down?
What rotors are you using? The ducted cooling will help a lot. We use SRF fluid which seems good too.
Interesting that you have had oversteer issues. Going up in spring rates can help but only if they're balanced of course....not the springs themselves before anyone asks! What swaybars do you have? Is it trying to rotate under trailbrake turn in? You're rear brakes aren't doing too much are they? I like the A arms.

Thanks guys. Derek is right, I'm changing the front/rear balance to get less oversteer.

Patrick have you ever heard anybody that actually built a turbocharged variocam engine say they don't like it!? It seems people ditch it to make a simpler setup. You know how it is, most of these engines are built super conservative. Old 8v heads, stock this, stock that... It has its pros building stock-like engines, but it's no wonder we so few fast 944/968.
IMHO there are no drawbacks besides adding complexity to the system, which I personally don't mind if it can be useful

From a perfect interior I went to this:
Putting the cage rests in:
Then the cage went to the powder coater.
In the meantime I put in new lightweight carpets from Appbiz. It's insane how many hours I've put into removing the stock padding, fitting the cage and putting the new carpets in. Insane.
I have no pics of the new carpets yet.
In the meantime I've also built new gauge panels.

Whats that lump beside the ignition key? And what gauges are those?
I would keep the VarioCam too.... The 968 VarioCam is very easy to tune. Its just on and off whenever you want it.

Seems to be a few 16v's in the works right now. It will be interesting to campare them.
I'm doing a 2.7 16v, not using the vario cam, mainly because I want to eliminate the chain.
What compression did you end up choosing?
Why didn't you go through the air vents with the hoop?

Hmm I think you're confusig the cam chain and tensioner with the variocam. All 16v 944/968 has a cam chain as the cam belt only drives one of the cams (the exhaust).
On the 968 however, the tensioner unit also varies the relative position to the intake cam. This is used with the same chain that drives the intake cam.
So if you want to eliminate the chain you have to use a custom cam belt and dual cam gears instead.
I chose 9.5:1 for this engine. The 16v head is more knock resistant plus it will be run on E85. Power everywhere
