Your Aussie dyno's always show low hp..........My dyno numbers were on a tuning dyno, not a higher reading dynojet. The one we will be using next week is also a tuning Mustang type dyno. The intake temps were over 104 degrees with my 531whp run. Santee that summer was an oven. The motor in the early morning 40 degree temps here in Tucson is stunning. It's a blast to drive in cool weather.

Patrick, can't wait to see your posts with a reliable running motor. It's been a long time, and I'm sure your patience is running low.

Good luck with your new motor. Know we are all cheering for you.

What will be interesting will be the first dyno charts will come from the engine dyno, then we will receive and install the engine in the car and run it on a Dyno Dynamics dyno. Should be able to get pretty close to working out the transmission losses.
As for hot weather, I'm afraid we have you comfortably covered. It's due to be 47C in our state this weekend. = 126f !!!!! The road will actually be melting.

126 degrees! I think that is a record here. Your tires will be really sticky!

I thought it might be a good idea to have this as a sticky for a while, in order to get some exposure to everyone in the community. Let's give this a try.

I have a mountain of info on the 968 Turbo RS Cars. Setup sheets with Manuel Reuter, gear charts, certification info from Matter on the cage...notes from Joest and Roock...most notably one from Roock that he thought the car had a button for addtional boost for qualifying. SAY WHAT...LOL. LALALALALALALALALALALALA I hear nothing. Just for the record, I've found no such button.

Every six months or so, somebody comes along insisting they can build a 3L turbo for a $2500 or some other such number. Posting the actual costs of those who have actually built a motor and installed it in a running car would be eye opening for them I'm sure. Anyone on the list want to make the rest of us feel bad by telling us how little they spent building their motor and supporting hardware? Anyone under $10k for example?

If I did the build myself I couldve easily been under 10k. Just swapping the motor in and out myself, wouldve brought it to around the 10k area. I had alot of parts laying around already, so that helps alot too.

Edit: I think it depends on the resources available to you. With labor, from scratch no fn way youll get it done under 10k. Just the engine rebuild will be a few k. Tacks parts on top of that(which sometimes become overpriced as soon as the source finds out your building a 3.0t). If you had the proper resources, time, and ability, it could be done for the price of parts. Which would vary depending on what parts you have already, and what you paid for them, or possibly didnt pay for them, dollar wise. From experience, Id say if you have a 951 with a blown motor, and want to do the upgrade, totally turn key, budget for 15k or so.

But, you had to have bought those parts at some point in time, so still some cost to add in.

Even the little things like new fasteners add up to a surprising dollar amount

They certainly do. For me the extra parts came from either the car when I bought it, or from my parts car. It helped alot.

Tom, excellent job of managing this thread you started! Below are some other guys who I think have 3.0Ls, some of them I mentioned already - we just need to update the thread when you have time. This list is really starting to grow too! If anyone else knows of some more guys, please list them here and maybe we can reach out to them too.
