Default Best Coilover Kit for $3500-$4000

Hi Guys
I am looking to replace the suspension on my car this year and looking for real life experiences of what works best. By this I don't mean what your best mates uncle in Nebraska heard on the grapevine was best on a 951.
I am currently building a 3.0 litre turbo engine and fitting 928 GTS Brakes. I intend to use the car this year on the road and for trackdays. Next year I intend to race it. What I am looking for is a full coilover system that will replace the torsion bars and allow a good degree of adjustment. I idealy am looking for high and low speed bump adjustment too.
Many people on the UK Porsche Club site recommend KW although I am finding it difficult to get any factory presales support. I have a soft spot for Ledas as I use them on some of my other cars.
Over to you guys, what works???

I've got Escort Cups, which I like a lot, and I've heard great things about Leda. Probably not the answer you were looking for, but there's my $0.02

Contact Mr. Chris White @ 944 Enhancement <----- Link

email: chris@944enhancement.com

Leda is what I'm going with for adjustability and functionality as well as quality. Rolex's car is using Ledas as well. Talk to Chris, he's more than knowledgable and can really help you find what you're after.

If you are willing to spend that kind or a little more money get Penske/Ohlins/Motons/JRZ and forget the rest especially those stoneage Escorts but remember that ANY high end race shock will leak and requires frequent rebuilds.

What's the budget Tommo? Bushings and suspension? If both of those to work together, then I say RE bushings accompanied by LEDA. If you grab a sponsor, then mabybe some other high end PITA shock and the damn JRZ's will leak I promise you.

Don't dismiss the KW's. I still think they're the best bang for buck although it seems that their support may be lacking. Have you contacted Stu from the UK 968 site? If you are going to use it on both road and track you should seriously look at their 2-way race system. They will custom make it for your car, it's made of inox stainless steel which is good on your salt laden roads, it's adjustable in 3 ways, has the high speed release valve which makes it such a good system for all uses. I'm sure you've heard this all from Fen and Dave but I will just add my sincere recommendations to the list.

The Leda stuff wont last 1 year on the road before its corroded, but it works well....but I would persevere with KW as there is support available. Otherwise look at Bilstein. Go to the 968uk site as that is where the latest Bistein, KW and Koni users are hanging out.

I'm going with the KW stuff since I can get it locally and I like the fact they are stainless steel - no corrosion.

Nick,

It depends how you spec the Leda's. The low end ones are just painted and do corrode quickly. The higher spec are plated and don't rust as easily.
I am looking for remote canister adjustment. I cannot find out from KW if they even do remote cainisters. I understand that the guy on the 968uk forum sells KW and I am sure he is a good guy, but without factory support how am I ever going to be able to get the system how I want it? I'lll make aposting on 968uk site too. Thanks Nick!"

Hi Pole position
I am struggling to find a UK Penske dealer. I used to use Penske shocks on all my race projects but the guy I dealt with disappeared from the scene and i moved over to Leda as they had experience of the application I was working with
What do you use mate???

Ski
my budget is $3500-4000 for the shocks and springs. I will buy arms and bushes on top of this. I was considering the Kokeln rear beam solution too. Has anybody got any experience of this??

I dont know about remote adjustment....what do you need that for? There was one other 968 guy that I met at a Brands GP trackday who is using another system by JRZ and Parr were supporting him to get the setup right on the track.

http://www.parr-uk.co.uk/performance...gineering.html

Try them and see what they can offer if you are looking at the higher end stuff. His setup was definately more track focused that the KW V3 and he was quite quick at Brands GP.
