Aren't you dragging the whole automatic mechanism at the point every time you raise and lower the roof? Must be other mechanical stuff disconnected or I think you would need the cranks to make it move.

It's actually very smooth when the top is raised or lowered. However, I think I'll do it the "proper" way so nothing gets damaged.

Had a flowed head on my old engine. Combined with the chip and drilled airbox it was enough to hang with a 951, proven. That engine is dismantled though, still have the head.

I am keeping my parts in case the next owner wants to make it power again. I don't plan to sell and I would not recomend anyone kepping the top power when the transmission goes it can take out the bar on th side then you have a big problem.

finished changing clutch (in garage on jackstands), installed hid headlights, new hella horn, got power top working and cleaned her up. next up, fix heater core leak, odometer gear, and have a couple of goodies to install. i'll post pics when done.
fyi, the at home clutch job wasnt bad. i took my time only had a couple of snags, but most of it was learning curve. i could do it again much faster now that i know what im doing. snag time not included.

Ok so this was last August but I didn't see how to attach files until today.( ya I felt stupid can't believe someone didn't tell me to go advanced when I asked how to do it) this is my car about a hour after the body got painted. I don't think most see what the back looks like with the side pieces off. I still have work to do on the finish but it is coming along. next week I am doing so work on my 4runner ( had a winshield put in 10 yrs ago and tey didn't prep it right and it has rusted) in any case it is my dailey driver so I must take care of it.
OK I don't get it it looks like I can only have 1.4 mb for all pics and now I can't remove the first pic I put up.

Finally after 4 months of working on it got it back on the road. Started with an oil pressure problem and Ended up doing the following:
Rod bearings
Oil pan gasket / Pickup and return seals
Oil cooler/filter console removed cleaned new seals (installed with alignment tool)
New used nice condition OPRV
New used nice condition Oil pump
New oil pressure sender
New oil pump drive
New water pump, thermostat
New belts (all rollers and idlers are only 2 yrs old so did not change them)
New main and balance shaft seals and o rings
Every other seal and gasket that I came across
New rear fuel lines
New tie rod ends
New motor mounts
New fitting for power steering reservoir to pump hose
New plugs, wires
And it runs great
oh yah and I washed it.
