I can only guess the burgundy interior. There are threads over the years of people doing a complete conversion to rid themselves of that color (not a small job).
Personally I like it, but in a world were black on black is preferred by the majority, this is the complete opposite end of the spectrum.
Few other things to consider:
1. This is the beginning of the worst time of year to sell. IMO once past Labor Day, unless you must sell, wait until spring
2. A/C doesn't work
3. Dash is cracked, so now you have an interior most are not in love with and having to spend upwards of $1000 to fix it
4. 2011 Timing Belt, so that's due again soon
Bottom line for a DIY'er you will easily have $5k into this car to make everything right (A/C work can quickly increase that guess...). So $10,750 plus my estimate and other incidentals will put you in the $16k or more area for a car that will always be low on the desirable scale due to that interior.
Side note, nothing to do with the selling price, just the ad in general: "equipped with a larger torque converter to handle the extra power" - where do people come up with this stuff? Yes it's larger, but that has more to do with the stall speed, not handling more power.

I've never bought from them, I did speak to one of their managers earlier this year about a 928 they had at the dealer wholesale auction (kicking myself for not buying it). My overall impression after a long phone conversation is he's a true enthusiast, really into 928's (has a couple in his personal collection). Seems like a place on the up and up. So take that for what it's worth......
Killer price for the buyer. Only 44 comments. I'm guessing it's the Black Friday/Turkey Day hangover effect.

I think another factor may have affected the final price.
5. AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION.
BAT seems to love the 5 speeds.
Not agreeing that the burgundy interior had anything to do with it though.
So, I was able to see Hoi's Weissach in person today at our local C&C. The car is stunning. The paint is like glass. It was getting lots of attention.
If I didn't already have my heart and mind set on another car, I'd be bidding strongly on this one.
Also got to see Britsky's red 928 today. His car presents much better in person than the photos and it sounds AWESOME!

I have consistently paid top dollar and then some for cars in November. I paid $14K for my S4 in November 2010 (which had a horrible dashboard even then and still does) and I just overpaid for my Maserati which will replace my 928. So it is certainly possible to sell for a high price in November, at least if you're selling to me.
As far as black cars, I won't touch 'em. Not exterior nor interior. No black, ever.

Interesting, rear seats don't match. my guess is that the sport seats were added at some point
No specific requirements and no clear "standards" to meet. They review what you give them regarding the car's specs and history and they will either give a "recommended" reserve or not. Once both parties agree on a reserve, they will ask for a fee prior to writing up an ad.
Process can take as little as 1 day or several weeks, depending on the pics that they choose to display on the main ad. They will include almost all the pics that you send them.

Interior absolutely plays a factor in how popular a car will be, to some (like me) it's more important than exterior color.
How much so in a car like this? I have no idea, maybe Diamond Blue isn't very popular / desirable either (one of my favorite colors), which doubles down on the unpopularity of such a nice car.
But all things considered equal, line up any two cars one with burgundy and one with black, the black one will have more people interested in it.
Could just be bad timing of some sort or the other.
It's advertised as having: "couple of paint gouges can be seen on the passenger-side rear bumper" so that isn't helping either. These vintage metallics are next to impossible to match without blending into surrounding panels & it's listed as having "front and rear bumpers show minor warping near the seams".
Whatever the case, IMO someone got a screaming deal on what appears to be a very nice a sub 60k mile S4.
Needs paint work (rust bubbles in 1/4 windows is ugly), TB/WP and tires.
Says peeling clear-coat, I think a black 88 should be single stage from the factory. The speaker treatment in the doors is ugly, interior has some issues too, could just be the photos but the dash / pod do not appear to match the arm-rests, center console, or dash.
I suspect black is more popular than diamond blue.

I never said it was an absolute rule, just one of those theories in the used car world. The overall desirability always overrides a lot of other "knowns".

I hear yea, in 1996 I bought my first black car and swore I would never own another one. I now own 5....not sure what happened
I've only owned one car with a black interior, I hate it but that is what's "popular". Often times I suspect it's the future sale & collectability that drives the desire for black interiors, vs people actually preferring it over say....tan.
I know some collectors (not necessarily 928 people) that will only buy cars with a black interior unless it's an absolute steal.

I guess I'm on the "popular" end of this spectrum. I only considered 928s with black interiors during my search. I like looking at some of the other colors but could probably only live with beige/tan/cork if it wasn't black. I think an all linen interior looks great but it screams Miami Vice to me and I'm more Hill Street Blues. And yeah, burgundy is the least favorite on my list.
