Another cool color...82 Rosewoof Metallic. Never seen the color above or this one:http://www.ebay.com/itm/1982-Porsche...m=322336228456 Ad states Cork interior (not a standard interior color in 82) and looks like beige to me. T

Bummer. Sorry to hear that. You'd think they'd take as many as they could get seeing as they have a higher rate meeting reserve.

Yeah it may take another decade of all the lower mileage collectors getting unobtainable before the higher mileage examples start to follow in their wake.

I thought that I had posted this previously but it must have went to a different thread.

A video walk through was posted last night.

Did they outright reject the car or did they suggest a reserve that was too low for your comfort? Why would they "reject" $250 in ad writeup and a potential 5% fee? Your car is nice and not a rust bucket.

You'd be surprise how low their "suggested" reserves are for very nice cars and they are pretty rigid.

They rejected 2 of my cars. A really nice 08 SL55 (didn't give a reason why) which I sold on eBay for my BIN and my 944 S2 where they initially approved it and I said no bc the reserve they wanted me to agree to was too low in my opinion.

Their motivation is to collect the 5% from a sale so you have to assume they want cars to sell and if they can get sellers to agree to a low reserve that certainly is in their best interest. Can't blame them for that.

Completely agree about not agreeing to a reserve, but it still doesn't explain why they would reject a car without reason. Especially a nicely presented car as your SL55 sounded like it was. $250 ad writeup is equivalent to $5000 sold price on their website. They had sold cars less than that. Strange.

My experience with BaT: their suggested reserve is what I have the car listed at now...the car reached $31k ($32,550 with fees)...the late bidding, adding 2 minutes to the clock and the gap between the bid and the suggested reserve was tough to make a decision on - I was not familiar with how the BaT bidding typically went very late like that. When I reached out to high bidder to try to work something out there was no response.

Now on the flip side of that, I offered two other cars for sale on BaT - their reserves were too low for what I was comfortable letting them go for, and one of the cars is under agreement well above their suggested reserve.

It's a tough call on what is the "right" number when it comes to on-line auctions...I prefer the staged car-reality-show sale where someone just pulls up next to me at a stop light and offers top dollar for the car (fingers crossed that happens the next time I take the 928 out).

@HLEE96

Thanks to the pictures taken at Oakes, the two most common questions I get are about your 928 and the BMW. I could have sold your car about 5 times by now.

Agreed, you'd think it would be just common courtesy to let someone know why a particular car gets rejected without the submitter asking a follow up? The first time they rejected a car (SL55) I don't think I asked why but, I did ask on the second rejection (944 S2) and they said they have too many in the pipeline at this point and they thought the reserve was a little strong. Guess they changed their minds bc they suggested that reserve just a couple weeks prior.

They just flat out rejected it with no particular explanation. I didn't ask why, but I figured it was because the miles are getting on the high side and maybe they have too many 928s all of a sudden.

I possibly wouldn't have liked their idea for a reserve price but, I wasn't given the chance.
