I made a deal for the 91 GT last night. Car has been caught up in probate for three years. Has a clear title. Nothing else is known about its condition. Going to get it Friday - 10 hour drive one way. Hopefully seller will honor our deal and it will still be there.

Nice car, but I think 27k cdn is a bit optimistic for an auto with 250k km's on it.
Topped out at 10k usd on BAT last week.

But still a lovely colour combo.

But seriously, like Hoi requested, you must start a build thread for its resurrection once the deal is finalized! I don't know if you paid his $2,000 asking price or more but either way, it looks to be a pretty clean car for the money! Safe travels on your way to get it.

Pulled out of a deal for it yesterday because I don't think its ethical taking a Euro GT for $2k from an uneducated seller who is trying to raise cash for his step-daughters college funds from their passed fathers contentious estate sale. Seemed like a very nice, genuine guy.
From what I know:
- The rear dent is not registered as an accident on vehicle history reports.
- All belts were described as taught, unbroken / undamaged. I'd hedge there's no valve interference damage and engine can be returned to working order.
- Its under 60k miles, undriven for almost 10-years.
- VIN WP0AA2927MS810348
I know that the 928 is nicknamed 'shark' but we shouldn't be 'sharks'.
Someone should help the seller get what this is worth, it seems that he is genuinely trying to do something for his step-family and doesn't know what he's got.
IMO, $12k-$16k is what this is worth today. Those that have the means to fix this up independently will have a $30k plus car with tons of upside and equity in it.

So, if a seller wants $15,000 for a car (any car), but he knows the car is really worth $3,000, he should sell it for $3,000 if an uneducated buyer is satisfied and wants the car for $15,000?
1. If you go all the way to talk to the guy and obtained all the info, you want the car. Why not buy it if you have a chance? You can always give him more money "cash" to alleviate your guilt. However, don't feel bad if another lucky buyer who takes advantage of it.
2. We don't really know what the true condition/title/history of the car may be. So, let's wait to hear what's all the fuss is about.
There's plenty of values/finds when these cars are up for estate sales, so if you don't take the chance, you can't complaint

I feel that you may be regretting not going through with the deal, right?
Sorry, just my $0.02

What?! He posted what the car is worth to him, and if he is satisfied with the car's value, why would you stop the deal?

I'd likely emailed for the VIN before others were in for the car. The VIN check told me it was a GTS (although it is a Euro GT) along with some other positive aspects about the car. I was either going to buy it, or pass it (Autocheck info) on to others on this forum that starting talking about the ad. But, then I spoke to the guy in person and i felt it wasn't morally 'right'.
I'm in Amerhurst in a a little while looking at a Lotus; this car is 10 minutes away. I could have secured the deal at $3k before anyone else got there.
I just felt it wasn't fair. The family story I heard was very sad. And I hope the guy does some research and gets more cash for it.

You're a good man. It's rare when guilt can overcome greed in our lives.
I still think you should've bought it for $2000 then quickly flip it to me for $5000 and donate the extra money to this man's family.
Another thought, you could've saved the buyer 20 hrs of driving!

I am not as mechanically educated on 928s as others in this forum otherwise I could have been exacting about giving the seller a happy mid-point between what its worth to me (with refurbishment investment) and to him. And, being able to sleep at night. My guess would be $12k-ish
Candidly, he should get it to an attractive enough level (i.e. detailed, minimum investment in things like missing trim and info on what needs to be done mechanically) for a BaT 'no-reserve' auction. That would be a true BaT auction based on the original intent of that website.
Lets hope the karma works out for me because I'm sure the guy selling this Lotus Exige is going to be less 'charitable'.

I truly mean that newcollector. What goes around comes around.
Now, you want to sell your OB 928 to me? My not-yet 2 yo needs an OB 928 under his name for his future and he cant afford more than $2,000 now. His older brothers (7, 4) will make fun of him and he will be devastated.![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Anyway, go get that Lotus!
