There are 2 chevy swapped at the same time now too.
Yeah, I don't recall seeing a Chevy swapped 928 in recent history on BAT and then one pops up a couple of days before mine went live. I think it's good to see at what levels these swaps can be executed. The two on there definitely show that. Surprisingly no negative comments from the peanut gallery on the hybrid presentation. I was at least expecting some. A true testament to Tony's vision and execution.
Lot's of questions pop up with this one, horrible (see zero) details in the auction catalog. Unless it's a complete basket-case, no doubt we'll be seeing this one pop up again.
EDIT -
This GT is a real mystery, it's no longer listed in the auction docket, it's lot T119 and should be after that Chrysler / Maserati https://www.mecum.com/auctions/kansa.../12/02/page/3/
Not to mention it was listed on Thursday, the worst possible slot to have a car go across the block
OMG. So much want and right down the street. Beginning serious obsessing…now! Has anyone on the East Coast put eyes on this one lately?
I sold the car to a Rennlister named CardinalCar in 2013. He owned it until last month. You can PM him about it. I owned it from 2006-2013 and refreshed much of the mechanical systems. It's a great example.
The switch is present on many of the 928s that came with the factory car phone (or at least GTSs that had that option). I'm not sure what it's for, but I think it might be part of the mechanism to release the redesigned center console lid. I looked through pics of other GTSs with the option, and some have the same switch, some don't have one at all, and one car I looked at had an entirely different switch in the same location.

Im curious what you all think of this car, and the asking price.
Rare - Dark Forest Green Color- L22E over cashmere supple leather. Miles in 30K range. Collector ownership history. Greg Brown past service history in 2019. Nothing since then.
Other than that...a normal 89 S4. usual Sunroof, rear AC, rub strips.oh and LSD.
Ive seen this car in person and it has lots of little flaws inside and out and the engine bay was disapointing in terms of cleanliness/condition for such a low mile car. Underside was dirty but all covers present.
I really want it but the price is way to much IMHO.
For the life of me, I cannot understand why anyone would sell a 928 at Mecum or even B-J, or any of the other muscle car based auctions. The audience just isn't there, and they aren't looking at these auctions for Porsches.

IMHO, the price is too high for a '89 S4 with an auto--w/o any crankshaft end play measurements--no PPI, an aftermarket stereo head unit, and a Porsche Classics steering wheel. Yes, the dash, pod, seats, and polished wheels look good; but there could be some expensive things that may await the next purchaser and this price is encroaching on GTS territory.
If you look at BAT, a '89 GT sold in July 2021 with 61K miles for $51K--remember, GT's are more desirable than S4 even though this S4 has half the miles. Moreover, a '89 S4 auto w/o LSD and 42K on the ODO sold in Sep 2021 for just over $40K. So, IMO, this seller is either not aware of the market or is shooting for the moon.

I believe the switch is to activate the hands free by switching the speakers to the phone. The kit included a small microphone mounted to the dash as well. IIRC i switched it once by accident and the radio was no longer working until I switched it back. I have the same option on my car but I have never been able to use it since the phone is analog and cannot be used today. Opening the console just requires pulling the cover. It takes some effort and is good enough to hold a pen or two.

I agree I argued with my friend who is selling the Bad Boys 94 turbo 3.6 at Mecum and I tried to get him to switch but they really pushed hard for the car. I think Mecum is realizing the Porsche market and trying to cash in on it. There will be some interesting German and Italian cars there this year vs the standard muscle cars. Who knows?
The Porsche crest was an option as I have them on my '91 GT that has a lot of exclusive options.

I agree, highest auto 928 s4 on bat has gone for about 46K. if youre super interested in a S4, and dont mind red, i'll sell you my red 87 auto with 86k with end play measurements, original stereo, and pending finished intake refresh amongst a bunch of other things for a heck of a price compared to this car.
