Surely it won't stay under 30?

This auction did not go well at all. Several factors were present for a negative result:

1. Poor documentation of the car (no Photos of the bottom).
2. Car is in Canada and the perceived difficulty in getting it into the U.S.
3. Higher miles and 10-15% discount for for Automatic.
4. Repaint without much documentation.
5. Auction closed on a Friday afternoon near 5:00 pm EDT.

And... something I follow that most investors/economists disregard is the huge drawdown of liquidity by the Federal Reserve. The Fed has removed just over $650 billion in liquidity from the economy. This has a huge effect and is synergistic to the interest rate increases. It takes time for the Fed's policy to take effect, but they show up first in the art and collector world.

Federal Reserve balance sheet peaked at $4,516,077,000,000 in 2015 and pretty much stayed at that level until February of 2018. Since 2018, liquidity has been drawn down to $3,864,749,000,000. About 17%... and the pace is accelerating.

It is not as significant of a percentage as when the Fed sucked massive amounts of liquidity out of the economy and triggered the housing crash in 2006, but it merits watching.

Agreed on all points, especially the 5 PM end time, which I found to be extremely awkward.

The timing within the economic cycle is strange. The economy is ticking along, but some of the legs are being broken away. Maybe lost momentum will be felt in collector items first, but not as much as it will be felt in a real recession, so it isn't necessarily a great time for bearish value hunters. But you'd have to think a $25,000 GTS (or wherever the reserve was) would be able to withstand a recession after importing to the U.S.

The car would have been a steal at $25,000! I'd have probably gone $30k for it if I were wanting another auto GTS...

Loved the color combination!

That car has the Porsche script inserts, which were in excellent condition when I laid eyes on it several years ago. Very unique and attractive, IMHO. The rest of the car was a bit rough around the edges, but I understand it has been painted since I saw it. There was a more recent conversation on this car (maybe in this thread) from a year or so ago that discussed the re-paint.
