Default The "How To" Thread

As a (soon to be) new Shark owner, one of the things that I really like here at Rennlist is the multitude of great threads that explain, with pics, how to perform various maintenance activities on the car.

One of the things I've struggled with a bit is finding all of the good threads that exist (and yes....I use search a lot).

As a result, I'm going to start a thread with the gems that I find while searching. If there are posts that I miss, let me know. I'll keep updating it as I find other threads based upon what I'm doing to my car and based upon any that the community thinks should be added. Also - if there's a thread like this already, let me know that and I'll delete this one.

And yes....this is as much so I have a consolidated place for useful threads as it is for the benefit of the broader community

Itoolio, welcome to the Sharktank.

Here is a link to Dwayne's Garage, a multitude of detailed DYI for the 928. Dwayne has been kind enough to put up these very detailed DYI for the rest of us to use.

Best of luck with the new 928 purchase

There is also a great informative, detailed web page containing service instructions specifically on S4s by John Pirtle. Great reference materials too. You can put it in "all encompassing service info" like Dwayne's garage.

http://members.rennlist.org/pirtle

I am also joining the shark-tank soon, for my just purchased '89 S4 will be picked up this weekend and transported directly to the great MrMerlin (Stan). I know the baby will be taken cared of and in the best shape possible after being with Stan.

Very nice and organized post. I would love to see more added to the OP for navigation ease. It would also be perfect for a Sticky at the top in conjunction the NEW VISITOR's thread.

Keep up the great work and good luck with your new Shark.

I think this thread is a great idea - but there's so much info out there it's easy to get lost. So, though it's always fraught to pick and choose among the great guys that have worked hard give us resources, here are the Tables Of Contents of a few of the best, to shortstop the search - if one of the procedures is something you're interested in, go to the site and click through to it.

These sites are well-worth visiting but their T's Of C are harder to steal than those below so you'll have to check them out yourself.

Looks like most have been covered above.. here's a few more

Theo Jennisken's site (he's also the maker of a laptop diagnostic tool that does the same as a Bosch Hammer and a lot more):

http://jenniskens.livedsl.nl/Technic...s/TechTips.htm

And a few more specific ones I suspect many will have no idea exist

Chuck's Registry has been donated to the 928 Owners Club and the summary info for each car has been transferred to the new OC Registry. The OC needs volunteers to move the detailed info over for each car. In the meantime, you can see Chuck's original Registry here, and this car with the checklist - here.

It would be great to see a similar collection of links on the Owners Club site; perhaps organized by task rather than source, if anyone's up for that.

Bump - looking for good head gasket threads to link into David's new thread, and I came upon this goodie. I know it's here for all to find in the usual ways, but we have a lot of new folks, so here you go. Peruse at your own risk - it's a deep well, and you may fall in for many hours!
