How about another run of watches..?

Okay, it's all coming together...
The price looks firm at $35 for a dial or $150 for the dial implanted into a SNKE51.
You can choose a custom hand set and include that with your order. Harold posted a list here on WatchUSeek with prices. Unfortunately, the posting is aimed at folks who speak Seiko. In general, the hands that are labeled 'For your 7S' or as being for the SKX007 or which show a Seiko 5 will fit the watch we're making. If you have any questions, post them and I'll try to decipher. If I can't clear it up, then I'll ask Harold for clarificiation.
If you don't order a set of hands, you will get either just a dial or the hands that come with the SNKE51 if you order the complete watch.
Once the final artwork is ready, I'll put together a poll to confirm that we can order at least 50 dials. Once we have that commitment, I'll set up a Paypal and we can get rolling.

Shawn,
Are you saying that the ones in the #9 illustration are not available?
I don't see any on the website that really fit he design intent of the new watch.

Revisiting this post with some info I found...
While Seiko never did create a Ladies' 7S26, I did think that they'd perhaps created a smaller diver. I did find information about a 'mid-size' diver that will take this dial.
Seiko 2205 Ladies' divers were 33mm across the case. The SKX001 and SKX005 were 200m 7S26 dive watches with a 37mm mid-size case.
For comparison, the SNKE51 (the 'dress' watch we've been using) has a 38mm case, the classic SKX007 diver has a 42mm case, the Rolex Submariner has 40mm case, a typical Brietling chonograph has a 44mm case, and a Panerai Luminor has a 44mm case (which looks bigger because of the square shape).

Hi Shawn - I looked through Harold's page and didn't see a red set of hour & minute hands. If that's the case, I'll go with the stock hands; just wanted to make sure of what I'm seeing before I vote on the other thread. Also, if he does the assembly, is there a warranty?
Thanks again for doing this - and for doing it quickly!

A warranty? It never occurred to me to ask. I will, but I'm sure that he'll warranty his work, which will be the dial and the installation of the dial. Really, there's not much to go wrong.
I'll see if he can do some red hands.

Another option is that if enough people agree on a set of hands from another site (DAGAZ, for instance) we should be able to buy a batch of hands from him and send them to Harold for assembly.

Something else for those thinking a building a diver: There are different chapter rings avaible: http://www.10watches.com/apps/websto...y/19820?page=1
And different bezel inserts: http://www.10watches.com/apps/websto...y/12255?page=1
Hmm... A red chapter ring and red bezel insert might look pretty cool.
Maybe even have the case Cerakoted in red:

Hi Shawn:
Like Bilal, I also voted for the custom hands as I really like RKD's choice of those DAGAZ sourced hands.
If I'm not mistaken (I'm sure RKD will chime in), those are:
Red Hands (3 sets): http://www.10watches.com/apps/websto...cts/show/50680
Small Ball Red Second Hands (3 pieces): http://www.10watches.com/apps/websto...s/show/1854166
Seems very reasonably priced as well (especially as those prices indicate sets and pieces of 3).

Hope you are successful getting your hands on some red hands. That would be nice. Otherwise, i think the silver hands with red second hand is a nice look too.
I understand many want a complete watch without messing with sourcing components, if that's your desire no sense in read anymore of this post. Following are some questions pertaining to those that might venture into using a different case.
It appears besides steady hands and patience, watch modding requires a handful of special tools that can added up. Just curious, what is the typical cost of 'assembly' if one was to supply all the needed components? Can you check with your man Harold or whoever you recommend about customer supplied cases being shipped for customization?
Has anyone around here tried watchmaking? Would anyone want to
I really like Shawns idea about sourcing a good used donor watch to build from, but still haven'y ruled out building from new. Following is a list of readily available new watches on Amazon sorted by price that I believe will work... at least in theory.
Cheapest is the at $50
at $55
at $58 (really like this one)
There are few more variants in the "dress" style, but that give a pretty good representation. Now for the "diver" styles... and the price jump:
(another one I really like, FYI... pricing keeps changing)
and my favorite of all, and of course one of the more expensive options is the at $230
Another opotion I've only seen used is the SKX001 which has good potential if I could find one.
How's that mud for your water?

I'm going to send an email to Duarte Mendonca at Northeast Watch Works in Rhode Island. He's built a bunch of watches for me. I'll get with him about assembly charges. I haven't had any watches made in a couple years, but his prices were beyond reasonable. I think the total price would come in right around Harold's quote.
This would, of course, necessitate me buying all the watches myself (probably from Amazon) and having them shipped to Duarte. That being the case, then there's no reason that we couldn't do a custom case for any compatible Seiko available on Amazon. If you're interested in that idea, factor the cost difference into your price guess, and we'll finalize when the time comes.
I've tinkered with it. The tools are cheap and it's easy enough to simply swap parts.
This dial will fit in all of these oddballs:

Pasha looks good, but a little too much detail. I like the clean lines of the final version. I am in for a full watch, but I just saw the possibility of a blue second hand which would match my car. I may buy that separately and add it after the fact if not available when ordering - my own special customized special 928 custom watch (Say that three times)
